Who else wants an XL Dfly2 ?

#1

Post by elena86 »

A spark of Sal's genius design. That's how I call this little gem. When Sal designed Dfly2 I suspect he was visited by gods.I now the ideea behind this little folder is that of a LBK but I was thinking that a slightly larger Dfly2, with a 2,75 inch blade, would be the perfect edc for many of us.I suspect ;)

I would buy a bunch. I had a similar idea, but it would be 1/3 larger fixed blade version. Needless to say, my idea went over like a fart in church...

There are many larger leaf-shaped blades in Spyderco's catalog already. Is the Dragonfly's handle so good and unique that it warrants a bigger one?

I'd like one. No liners, same design. Make it blue, while you're at it.

I am a huge Dfly fan and it may just be me but the Native has always felt like an oversized Dfly.

Not only the handle. The blade shape is unique and very organic also.Caly jr has a similar blade shape but it's discontinued.

I've posted on here several times I'd love a larger Dragonfly. And Sildani, for me it is the handle shape and the unique DF blade shape. Yeah, one with the dimensions of my Wegner Jr. would be awesome. G-10 with or without liners, don't care what color or what blade steel, just getting a larger one would be enough for me!

This is kind of walking over hallowed ground for me, because I feel the Dfly is nearly perfect for what it is. If I changed anything I'd probably only add a half inch overall...1/4 inch of extra blade and 1/4 inch of extra handle for it to close into. It wouldn't make a huge difference but it would give my pinky a little extra grip and 1/4 inch of extra blade would be useful without pushing the knife into a significantly larger size. Beyond that I'd make them all FFG and I'd make a HAWKBILL version.

I would not go for a 2.75" blade. I would rather have a Delica. A 2.5" DF blade would be just right. I would buy one, especially if it was blue.

I have had a DF2 in my pocket for the last several days. Truthfully, it is a very useful knife. I am still waiting on the blue DF. I only have 8 of them so I need more.

I am waiting on the Baby Jess Horn as I believe that may be the ultimate pocket knife design (now if it were linerless FRN it could be even nicer because it would be lighter).

IMO the D'fly XL is essentially a M2 LW... Not exact, but not so different either.

I wouldn't make it any wider, but having it all slightly longer might be really good.

Swedge, deeper finger choil, different thumb ramp (like it a lot), different blade shape, different handle shape.I hope it's enough :D

I'd be all over it. Put it in autocad or similar, and stretch it .75" overall. Done.

I do. But keep the blade length just a tad below 2.5" so that it won't get too big and be legal in most places and give it a compression lock to make it perfect.
