Recommend a new Spyderco

#1

Post by spydorinox »

I'm looking to buy a new Spyderco, around $100 or less. What I have:

Dragonfly 2
UKPK
Native 5 FRN
Delica 4 FFG
Pacific Salt SE

I had a Manix 2 LW but gave it away because I didn't really like it. What would you guys recommend?

You can never have to many Delica's , so what about one in ZDP189 or the Delica Kahr ?

Bump yourself up $22 and get a Paramilitary 2, you'll flip your lid  :D

Welcome aboard, spydorinox. :)

Agreed with the recommendation for the PM2 (even though it is higher than your specified $100 limit). It will be worth the extra money.

My other thought: You need some Hawkbill goodness in your life, brother. ;) How about a SS Harpy in SE for around $75 +/-?

I too think that the Paramilitary is the next logical choice.

Maybe wait for a Sage 5 with Compression lock?

The Chap. 1 can be had for slightly more than your $100. If you're sticking with your limit, then I think a ZDP-189 Delica or Dragonfly would be a good choice.

If you like kitchen knives, the Santoku and Rhino (pre order) would cost you all of $100. For a single knife, the Chap in cf, sage 5, and PM2 are fine choices.

Sage 1 or Chaparral 1 are both excellent knives at your price point yet will be more approptiate for your dressier knife needs compared to your existing collection in my opinion.

Thanks for the recommendations, I just picked up an FFG Endura and G10 Manix 2 for a great price. I still want a PM2 someday.

Centofante 3 should be around $65. One of the best Spyderco slicers, certainly the best for the money.

this is the Centofante 3 problem. It is the great knife. IMHO Centofante3 is one of the best value to cost ratio in Spyderco line-up, certainly the best looking knife in it's price range and also most underappreciated knife in Spyderco's line-up.

How 'bout a Manix(3) lightweight w/ 3.25" blade, and VG10 class steel?
