I always value Surfingringos opinion on Salt knives but I'd like to also hear Sal's opinion on the pivot or washer issue here. The rust color is the ONLY thing detracting this from being an almost very good condition knife...!

That knife is in pretty amazing condition for what it's been through. I'm sure that however much time I spend near the ocean in my lifetime, one Tasman would last me through all of it.

There was a thread a long time ago on another forum about a salt knife rusting and it turned out that Seki City had issues of working with another steel, then switching the production to H1 and getting some not-so-rust-resistant steel on the H1 knives. I think I remember reading that the problem got fixed. I don't remember seeing any surface rust problems over the last 5 years.
