nice to see that no one has fallen for the fake UKPK that has been listed several times on ebay. shows how discerning and well educated the Spyderco community is :)

Some people buy the fakes on purpose, though. The other day I saw someone on another board showing off several fakes they just got-all of them fake Taichungs.

For me personally, I don't mind the knockoffs, but the fakes bug me--the people trying to pass it off as the real thing.

Yeah, the people trying to pass them off as real are pond scum. May their camels have fleas or whatever insult is appropriate for their locale.

Luckily there's usually some red flag like "Ships from Schenzen China" or low feedback or something.

Not my personal thing, and I don't own any, but most of the knockoffs say "Ganzo" or "Navy" which come in brown boxes and they at least aren't claiming that they are legit and trying to scam people into thinking they are getting the real thing. I don't think the knockoffs hurt the brand. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Nobody is buying something with "Ganzo" in big letters on it, thinking they are getting a Spyderco. Nobody is blaming Spyderco or the entire supply and distribution chain when they buy a Ganzo.

You called it David, I Was Hacked! That wonderfully wicked women i love is out to ruin my knifing good times. Please allow me to extend sincerest apologize on her behalf. I believe she snickered playfully (certainly without malice) as she typed & thought she'd pressed the return key to delete my unfamiliar and trite sarcasm.
I really didn't mean to offend. I've been around awhile but recently ditched the lowly guest status. I appreciate this forum very much, I feel like i'm acquainted with ya'll but it's been a one sided relationship, i'm ashamed.
I intend to take the next Forum Etiquette Course at my community college, until then please overlook me.
Okay then enough for-play. Dave if Your still slingin a faker i'll take it this once;
seriously though, would you please tell me what were your initial telling impressions of this alleged FUPKP? I've read the faker id threads and videos but i like that you spotted one and brought it up, well that and anything would end this glorious thread you authored better than my apologies.
Have a knife day,

no worries, my ?? response was meant to give a chance for you to clarify if you chose to. I'm glad my GF doesn't have that sort of a sense of humor!

I'm certainly not the expert on this subject, but the auction I was referencing is for a knife that has poorly aligned blade etching, and only has clip cutouts for right side carry. The overall "look" is also not as crisp as a real Spyderco and the G10 texture is subtlely different, so even in fairly low-res images it stands out as a fake... also $85 for a NIB G10 UKPK is a bit low, so immediately draws my suspicion.
