I also much prefer the Techno...probably my favourite of the smaller "Full size" knives (I consider a knife to be full sized if I can get all 4 fingers on it). I like the Techno best, but it's a little on the thick side 4.5 mm stock compared to 2.5 mm on the DFly (I believe the Cat is about the same), and 2 mm on the Chaparral which makes it the sliciest option for sure. If sliciness is the main concern go with the Chaparral...if you do the occasional bit of light prying (No heavy prying should ever be done with a folder...fixed blade or a better tool for prying are much recommended) you might want to look more closely into the Techno.
thx for the suggestions! If your a rigger, you'll understand my dilemma. I'm a union millwright, and we do a lot of rigging, so I actually use my serrated Salt for a lot of stuff, but the serrations just don't lend themselves to everything. So if I have to carry a second knife, I need it to be small, but with the feel of a big knife cuz we're required to wear leather gloves. Thx!
I am indeed a Rigger. Mostly cell phone and communications towers. If it's not too big for you to carry I'd look into a Delica if you want to use a knife with gloves on. My absolute favourite knife to use with gloves on is my Military. Superb ergonomics and the lock is extremely easy to modulate. My most common work pairings are my CruWear Military, and a SE Tasman Salt to accompany it.

375 feet isn't so bad...people die more regularly falling off ladders at less than 10% of the same elevation.

I have several SPY-DK's. They have all come scary sharp and are phenomenal slicers. They are slip joint but stiff spring. Under 2 oz is incredible for the size blade.
My grails: Manix2 with CPM-S110V; Dragonfly ZDP-189; Native CPM-S90V; Manix XL glow in the dark.

What is the maximum cutoff for being a "small" Spyderco. The Rubicon is only a bit longer than the Delica.

The only other small Spydie I have is a Herbst. But I really want some more small Spydies.

I am a fan of the D'fly, but have to say that the Manbug has really impressed me by being a much more useful tool than the Ladybug without actually being more than a few millimeters bigger!

I also have a Cat, but it's too heavy to qualify as a "small" knife, at least for my pocket.

edit-

I just looked at them all side by side. if the Cat is "small" then the Chaparral is too... and the Chap' is a lighter, slimmer knife with more cutting edge and better steel than the Cat (ought to be at more than twice the price...), but it's also got my vote as all around favorite sub-Sage/Delica sized Spyderco. If you think the Dragonfly is the largest "small" Spydie, then it's a tie between my SB Manbug (smaller and lies innocuously at the bottom of my pocket) and my ZDP Dragonfly (does almost any job that a 3" blade can at half the size).

Love this shot … I used to work on Dockside Cranes at the shipping terminals (Elex Tech/Electrician), and there's a sense of 'Eagle's nest isolation' when you're up there that's comforting in a strange sorta way … I miss working at heights … hard to explain …

Great shot 3rd Gen … !
