Emmerson or Spyderco Karambit?

#1

Post by Visable-assassin »

Im doing some comparisons between the two...I love both designs but id like to know exactly how good each one really is. I've owned plenty or Spidies and two Emmersons LOL. But any suggestions would be great....and of course pictures of the knives by themselves and in hand would be great

That's an easy one! From the Emerson and Spyderco Karambit I choose... the Tarani Karambit. The best, by far! S30V blade, G-10 handles and good looking

Both are great. I don't think the spyderco karambit is long enough to have a based opinion - but the emerson (which i received yesterday) is different from the spyderco - they FEEL different in hand - and it's hard to decide - which is better. perhaps there is no need to decide - my advice is to purchase one of them - or the tarani- and then when temptation is irresistable and you can afford it - get the other one...

Clarfication - i meant long enough IN THE MARKET -...
And another point - the spydie is all metal and COULD be slippery. the emerson won't slip. I glued some rubber on my spydie for that reason

There is also the Tarani lightweight. FRN handles and ATS-34 blade (I think). Much cheaper than the G-10 and S30V one

My favorite folding karambit is the Tarani Masters model. Between the Emerson and Spyderco, I would go with Spyderco, because of my mistrust of the liner lock. I have handled an Emerson Karambit with a defective liner lock, and have heard of others. My personal Emerson has a good lock, BTW. Another issue is the small finger rings on the Emerson, which bother me, and I have thin fingers. As for the smooth handles, IMHO the use of the ring will mitigate this. Neither the Emerson nor the Spyderco have a rear brake, but this is a factor only if the user intends to use the extended grip. BTW, karambits are not spun, they are extended and retracted.
