Serge Dog Tag + some other siblings

I've been on a Serge kick as of lately. Kind of a micro-collection of curious backup EDC knives. Sorry the angle is a bit off .

Spyderco will always be my go-to pick for folding cutting tools. You can only process so much stuff with 1" blades :p and honestly the edge that Spyderco puts on factory knives is 99% guaranteed to be scary sharp. These are certainly different though and appeal to the art lover in me. Not having to fumble with a lock also makes for easy package opening.

Top to bottom:
Kiradashi (1080 antiqued, Ti, detent ball)
Spyderco Dog Tag (S30v, Ti & Alum, detent ball)
Key Cutter (1095, Copper, no detent ball/rubber band & friction)
Midtech Thorn (154cm, Brass, friction folder)
Midtech Coin Claw (154cm/Ti, detent ball)





PS: The edge on the Dog Tag is the sharpest. :spyder:

Nice! I was actually just looking at sergeknives yesterday, trying to justify the Coin Claw! I also really like the Thorn. I'm liking the black Dog Tag a lot.

The Coin Claw wasnt nearly as sharp as the Spyderco Dog Tag. Maybe just my specific knife and something you can certainly fix. It opens things quite nice and makes a really cool pendant.

He's currently doing some anodizing work on the Coin Claws so you can buy a raw one or wait. After that he said he was going to do a run of like 50 customs. If I had to guess prob in that $350-400 range. Then again, having a mid-tech modded would be quick and cheap(er).

I just got a black dog tag. I'm trying to figure out how to carry it. I'm not a fan of necklaces or putting it around my neck. Any suggestions?

I had one for a bit and carried on a key ring with my house and car keys.

Thanks bud :D. I'm tempted to send it and the coin out for an anod job someplace. Brown back scale and pivot. Any recommendations on who does that kind of work?

The dog tag looks too "polished" next to those pieces. I like the grittiness of the other knives.

Thanks for the pictures Blerv. It is a very nice collection. I've looked at Serge's work but never quite knew the scale of his knives until now. Seeing them next to the Dogtag really helps. I like the little friction folder a lot. :)

Yea same here. Only problem would be the hole opener. The blade is extremely small so if they put a hole there it would simply for trademark purposes.

Hi Johnnie,

We generally don't make production versions of Mid-Tech knives. Mid Techs are really very close to production knives and we'd be in competition.
