Settle a Manix 2 question for me

Are the new ones skeletonized or not? I'm thinking of a mod and actually need a solid liner version.

My 110V doesn't even have a liner, oh noes!
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

It's been 9 months since I have bought one, but the black on black was solid liner then.

Ha yeah. I'm thinking of doing a blade swap with some pretty heavy handle mods so I need the liners.

Not sure here, only ones I have are the cruwear and the S110V, I did see someone had one listed on the exchange today for $80or $90 bucks, I think it was one of the older versions, might still be there.

I think only Sprints have skeletonized liners, and the LW has a partial liner around the pivot. To my knowledge all regular Manix 2s still have solid liners.

This is my understanding as well. As far as I know the standard G-10 version still has solid liners and only the sprint runs get the skeletonized liners.

The latest thing I've seen was that they are still solid liners.

Anyone care to speculate why sprints are skeletonized? I got nothin'.

Probably just to make them more special. I guess I need to find a good price on a plane Jane Manix 2 now.

I believe they did a black G-10 S30V FFG Manix 2 sprint run a while back, and it had skeletonized liners. I believe the reason the standard ones are solid liners is because of that sprint run. Somebody correct me if that's not right. :)

I'm pretty sure that's a standard production knife.

The Manix used to be hollow ground, and 154cm. So the sprint was basically the same as the production Manix 2(2014 & 2015), but with skeletonized liners.

Looks like a production knife to me

Yes, but I believe there was a sprint run Manix 2 that had skeletonized liners. The current production Manix doesn't have skeletonized liners. Sorry if I'm making this confusing. :( Maybe it wasn't S30V, but there was definitely a sprint Manix 2 with black G-10, with a FFG blade. The solid liners probably just make the sprints special, and brings the costs down.

The closest thing to what you're describing is the Black G-10 CTS-BD30P FFG Manix 2 Sprint.

For everyone's information, before the Manix 2 went in to production, they had two pre-production prototypes. Both were 154CM. One was FFG with Skeletonized liners and the other matched the first runs, hollow ground with solid liners. There were either 25 of each made or 50 of each made. They're pretty rare. I saw a FFG version sell on USN for $250ish.

I wanted it, but I wasn't willing to spend that much. I still have my eye out for a reground FFG 154cm and I have titanium scales sitting waiting for me to find it.

It used to be part of what separated the Sprint from Production. Along with the FFG versus Hollow.

I think now it has more to do with keeping the production cost down. The Manix is a model that was said to be experimenting with a lower cost margin. It's a pretty amazing model with being USA made, the materials, the quality and the price as far as I'm concerned!
