The Manbug...Impressed
Re: The Manbug...Impressed
I also haven't ever bought a G10 one. I love FRN and light knives. Just feeling the G10 Jester makes me think I won't like the weight of the Manbug. Plus, it is expensive for such a little guy.

I bought the G10. I love the bolsters. It is a great interpretation of a classic knife in a modern form.

Just added the ZDP version to my collection. Great little slicer. Now I've got 4 manbugs. Love these knives.

Good post.
I can't say that I like one (FRN vs G-10) better than the other. I like each for it's own individual attributes.

I heartily agree! I've said it before and I'll say it again now: ounce for ounce the G10 Manbug is the best Spyderco out there! For those on the fence in this one, you will not be disappointed (unless you're looking for a 4" blade!). Cheers, Radioactive :)Doc Dan wrote:I bought the G10. I love the bolsters. Re: The Manbug...Impressed
I'm not so sure... not trying to raise a fit, but what are the attributes of the G10 Manbug?
That is a HUGE percentage increase in weight over the FRN, much more than I realized. Now I think I'll just stick with FRN for this particular application.

Going back to Caly.

G-10 : I like the heft in my hand. I like the understated classy look, without being too fancy.
FRN : I like the lightweight and durability...and reduced cost.

A part of what I said on the previous page...
To be clear, I really like both FRN and G10 for what offer each of them...Nasgul wrote:....
It (Manbug) cost nearly as much as the G10 Dragonfly ... (About 100 € for both...)
The G10 Manbug weight is nearly as much as the G10 Dragonfly... (G10 Manbug : 43g / G10 Dragonfly : 56g)
But there is choice for everyone, and that is a good things ! :)

Re: The Manbug...Impressed
I had a MB a few years ago and sold it, however, after reading this tread, I may have to give it another try. I had and prefer the FRN version.
My big issue had to do with the blade shape. I just don't understand its purpose and don't care for the looks of it.

Thanks for exhuming this thread, I have been thinking about a similar post.
I am amazed by the difference that a few extra millimeters in every direction makes as compared to the Ladybug.
My GF was looking over my shoulder as I posted to the "small Spydie" thread and said (with humorous disbelief) "Manbug?" , so I explained that the Manbug was a bigger Ladybug and handed her one of each... Her opinion was that the Manbug is a much more useful size, she was also impressed by how much difference there is between the two.

Looks like maybe you should get her a Manbug of her own before she absconds with yours! :p :Dawa54 wrote:Thanks for exhuming this thread, I have been thinking about a similar post.

Re: The Manbug...Impressed
I just made it through this thread. I could really use a Stretch Bug. :)
Also, it would be nice if Spyderco could make a pocket dangler with a Spyder logo on the outside.

She's a landscaper in the summer, so a slightly beefier blade and a pocket clip are required (currently she has a BT Mouse and a CRKT half serrated Convergence), in the winter she works in a pack/ship warehouse and they're only allowed to use company issue snap-blade knives :P
When we met she was using a Frost's "spyderfaux" lockback folder that has since broken irreparably (breathes sigh of relief).

I love when lesser knives fail so others can truly appreciate spyderco quality. It's so satisfyingawa54 wrote:SpyderNut wrote:Looks like maybe you should get her a Manbug of her own before she absconds with yours! :p :Dawa54 wrote:Thanks for exhuming this thread, I have been thinking about a similar post.

That Frost's clunker was on death's door the second it left the production line in China, so not much of a brag that a Spydie is better... I'm just thankful that no fingers were involved in the incident when the lock gave up.
