Torx T-4 screws on Spydercos?

#1

Post by MickM »

I just got a new set of Wihi miniature Torx driver bits with handle from Amazon. Made in Germany, looks to be real quality for $19.50, sizes T-5 and up. I had looked at set in Lowe's with a fancier driver handle and it did include T-4 for $7.00. The German made bits seem to be finished much better then the Chinese but will I need a T-4 to disassemble and maintain my knives? Ex. change pocket clips?

I haven't had any T4 screws on my spydercos and I own dozens. They're usually size t6 and t8. I just purchased a wiha set recently on amazon as well for about $25, amazing set of german made drivers, best ive ever had. True size and stronger tips etc. Mine came with 5 drivers size 6,7,8,10 and 15 i believe without digging them out. From my years of experience with spydercos, emersons, striders etc pocket knives i don't think I've ever ran into a size outside of those five.

Check out Menard's, Lowes, etc. too. I purchased some decent Torx drivers from Menard's about two years ago (T6 though T10).

Wiha all the way. I have many of their tools for different applications and have never been disappointed, fully worth their price. My wife works for an electrical supplier to robotics and automotive, and all of the professionals there use Wiha and Wera.

And no, I have not had a need for a T-4 personally.

You most probably never have a need for a T-4 for any Spyderco.
But if you want to have one:
The quality of the Boker Toolkit Torx http://www.boker.de/us/other/09BO700.html is a pretty good, it is manufactured by Wiha.
