I have the same LSX-R intake. I have a custom red molded one on one of my engines. A mutual friend owns the company who does the injection molding for Comp Cams.
Also have a Hotckis front & rear anti-sway kit on my lowered Silverado. Nice pieces.

No need to justify your modifications, I say go for it and keep it up!!! Love it.
I was just simply commenting on your statement of factory produced items not being collectible.
Actually, catch can was bought used as a base, instead of making from scratch. Raw T6 blank stock that size is expensive. I made mod to the internal to enhance functionality:

Image

Added fins on external to aid condensation, made heat sink fitting to encourage pre-cool incoming blow by, homemade G10 bracket to isolate direct heat conduction and....:

Coils were relocated with homemade brackets to eliminate direct heat conduction, original holes for coil mounting brackets on valve covers were plugged, then valve covers got the mirror polish treatment:

Being a fairly addicted tinkerer, the list goes on......I leave it at that! :o

Back on subject, I have decided to add a chamfer onto the second bump on the Yojimo. Chamfers provide an optical illusion of a slimmer blade profile under certain light condition. But in reality, in front of a darken background, profile of bumps remain.

I will post pictures when done!

Latest rendition:

Under certain reflection, chamfered bumps disappeared as an optical illusion along with a slimmer blade appearance:

A mob of yojis. The title mispelling still gets me. ;)

I honestly liked it better before you chamfered the last 2 "knuckles", but left the first untouched. Looks good open, but doesn't look uniform when closed. Either way though, beautiful blade!
Going back to Caly.

Thanks for pointing out the title typo!

Appreciate for sharing your critiques followed with the compliment.

***

The bumps having different radius and tangents, it was impossible blending in by hand, to have the same identical dimensional correct and harmonious chamfer.

I purposely started without any chamfer after initial re-profile, gave it a few days for me to dwell on each separate stage, chamfered the bumps one at a time, then, the final culmination and mirror'ed the full spine to get the distinct, smoothed over penetrating visual effect, without sharp edges or diminishing my effective thumb over travel rest.

So....it is my interpretation, done slow and deliberate, intentionally solidified, to satisfy my own vision. That is the beauty of mods!

Or left it factory stock. To each his own, right!? :)

That is indeed a high compliment from the man!

Your design is my favorite :spyder: !

Modding simply to further shown, not to taken away from the initial design, but rather - enhance pride of ownership!

Right on!

Beautiful Hawaiian morning, no modding today!

Decided going to what we Locals call this twisty, "Snake Road". Its leads to the famed North Shore of Oahu. To truly enjoy what this road can offer at speed, it is best using a well honed sports car in the crack of dawn or late at night.

The beginning:

Right on with that. One on my bucket list - just for the joy of its Desmo valve train!

My own crotch rocket is a 1990 vintage Yamaha FZR 1000, full on titanium headers - hand built by the vintage Mr. Muzzy. Racing Keihin flat slides, PM spun aluminum wheels, compliments of homemade titanium hollowed axles, fasteners, 10.5 sec/quarter, top out north of 165 mph and.........Unfortunately, even with sticky tires. Best could be pushed is little north of 45mph at this 35 posted treacherous twisty. But for what it is worth, still an exciting thrill. Both sides of Snake Road are dotted, in remembrance, for those, came before, failed and became part or many permanent monuments. But for the conservatives, it is a nice cruise:

Image

It is not fair, between 2 & 4 wheels, like comparing apple to orange, when pushed!

Corvette has tuned suspension, FOUR wide stickies gripping the black top, custom carbon fiber limited slip 4:10 rear end, row through custom short throw 6 gear shifter with homemade titanium knob:

Image

- - connecting the endless low end torque from the massaged V8 to the black top and...... with ease, go up and down north of 65 mph in all the very late nights and early mornings.

No joke! ;)

Snake Road is but among many twisty we have, depending on the time of day and weather permitting, to enjoy and you are certainly - welcome!

While having my morning Cold Brew, thought about the pocket clip's bright contrast on the subdue carbon fiber handle finish, decided and these is what had to be done to stop the itch:-

Right on! Easy right? ;)

Did you play with the heat to get what you like?

For my Yo, I came up with shades of fade in, then out, bronze and blue for contrast, but not taken away from the blade's center focus - mirror finish - my poor skill in photography is not doing justice to shown the actual finish on the photos.

I also did my BBS XHP Para 2 Sprint, but choose subdued blueish on the mounting screw face, then, fade out to an even unfinished titanium look to compliment but not contradict the straw color G10 scale.

For my upcoming BBS Domino transformation, I will try make it to match the contrast of the flame ano titanium handle slab.

I just heated it with my wee little propane torch until it turned a dark bronzey brown.

Melted the carbon fiber just a bit, looks kinda cool.

Your YJ2 is absolutely beautiful. I wish for a second I could bring myself to reshape the blade like that. I'd be so afraid of messing it up though. Again, amazing work man!

Really not hard, start with a plan, then follow plan with a slow and deliberate mind set. Time consuming, yes, but using the measure twice and cut once method will get the job done as planned!

Mahalo for sharing enthusiasms guys!
