Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Endura 4 Very good choice, very nice pic... ;) Thank you, Wartstein ! Endura is my preferred "winter" folder. The longer handle (slightly modified by me) is more comfortable when I use gloves. I know exactly what you mean! Beeing a quite avid backcountry skier I use my Enduras often times...

Re: Some things I would like to see from Spyderco ... you?
Third time I come back to this thread.. ;) I´d like to see a quite heavily modified Native 5 LW: Get rid of the choil, so the cutting edge extends all the way back to the handle; move that "guard" on the handle forward, so you get a good four finger grip and when doing so, your hand is pla...

Re: Spyderco YouTube Channel
Thanx for sharing! I was not aware of Spydercos channel. Oddly enough, cause of course I search YouTube quite frequently for "Spyderco", but never came across their dedicated channel.

Re: Can we Spyderco users be assured VG10 will be with us for a good long time?
Spyderco better keep vg10 and S30v around, unless they want to replace vg10 with hap40 or s30v with xhp. I like to have steels around that are easy to maintain. Bd1 is good too but not as good as vg10 or S30v. I like the edges I can get on them and I like how easy I can bring them back to life. The...

Re: If you could resurrect one discontinued model what would it be?
Just wanted to create a thread with almost the same title by myself, luckily I found yours on time... ;-) Ok, my choice would be the Stretch 1 FRN, no question. The VG 10, HAP 40 (burnt orange) and ZDP 189 versions. The current stretch 2 is not a bad knife, but the Stretch 1 was better imho: Shorter...

Re: How different is your daily carry knife w/ gloves on?
Thanks! I still want an orange ffg endura though... Since you mentioned the Millie would be a bit too pricey for you, my recommendation may not the best, since also quite expensive, but nevertheless: What about the burnt orange HAP 40 Endura for an "orange ffg Endura"? Color is not that b...

Re: How often do you carry a fixed blade?
I’d like to vote: never but I’d like to. Legally I’m allowed, don’t care how people react, just haven’t found the right knife. I’d like to see something with a smaller sheath, 3 inch blade. Hope it´s ok to recommend a non Spyderco: Look at the White River Knifes Backpacker, Backpacker plus or Caper...

Re: How often do you carry a fixed blade?
Voted "rarely"; Only when multi day or more serious mountaineering, I carry a rather small fixed blade: - Better for fire making (batoning branches and so on) - And with a fixed, you have kind of an emergency prybar at hands. So you could repair ski bindings, pry open a locked door of a sh...

Re: Some things I would like to see from Spyderco ... you?
Posted this somewhere else already, but it fits this thread: I´d like to see two additional versions of the Kapara, since I like the blade and handle shape (especially the cutting edge to closed length ratio) so much: 1.) A "budget-version": Same overall shape, but FRN scales, backlock and...

Nothing cutting related.. Changed the battery in my Altimeter-watch, and had to put the unruly sealing ring in place by using the Tip of my Delica FFG

Re: Spydiechef vs Kapara
Don´t have a ´Chef to compare the Kapara to, so I just can rate the latter: The Kapara is simply great at food prep, no doubt; Cuts amazingly, and what I like most: If you do like a "pinch grip" on the handle you really can utilize the whole length of the cutting edge when cutting against ...

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post
Flicking backlocks open with your pinkie op? That requires some serious finger dexterity and strength. Those rocks don’t stand a chance! :spyder: As I hopefully stated in my first post: Pinkie-Flick just in REVERSED grip of course... ;) Still took some practicing though... a lot actually. And conce...

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post
Where do you live now if you like to tell? And why did you have to leave the imho best place to live? ;) I live in North Carolina here in the US. I was stationed in that area in 80-81 in the US Army. Strub Kaserne in Bertchesgaden where the Gebirgsjaeger were/are. We did some training with them . I...

Re: Your Delica 5
My Delica 5: The only thing I´d wish for is an increase in cutting edge. When closed, the blade of the Delica 4 does not extend all the way to the rear end of the handle, so it could be lengthend with no problem. I am not fully aware of American knife laws (since I am Europrean), but I get that ther...

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post
Hey everybody, repeatedly I quoted myself in this and another thread by accident (so my post appeared two or three times). Apologies for that! I am anewbie, and when I wanted to edit my post (as I am not a native speaker I sometimes correct mistakes afterward) I happened to QUOTE it instead. Unfortu...

Re: Some things I would like to see from Spyderco ... you?
Bring back the Stretch 1: Though the currrent Stretch 2 is a good one, I liked the Stretch 1 (quite recently discontinued) a lot better: More cutting edge in less closed length, hand placed closer to the edge in a not choked up position, tip more acute, for me personally better ergonomics (I like th...

Re: Batoning, SMH...
Why not just get smaller branches? That's what I'd do if conditions were dry, but this isn't always the case. Yeah, thats the main reason. But additionally on mountain huts there are often times prepared logs of wood, but too big to start a fire. Batoning them with a small knife is the best way to ...

Re: Batoning, SMH...
I am impressed... Never dared to baton a folder, and my Millie would be the last of my knifes I´d choose for that, since I always hear that the Liner-Lock is the weakest type of lock... Well, if you do what they say, the lock doesn't matter since you would do the pounding without the lock engaged. ...
