And after this knife is a laser in the kitchen can’t say enough good things about it if it were offered in 1 and 2 inches longer would buy each.

I know exactly what you mean! Beeing a quite avid backcountry skier I use my Enduras often times with gloves.Featherblade wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 3:11 pm
Thank you, Wartstein !
Endura is my preferred "winter" folder.
The longer handle (slightly modified by me) is more comfortable when I use gloves.
But concerning the pic: It's really nice and looks very professionally done: Are you a photographer by professio n if you don't mind the question?

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I fully expect some comments concerning the can of liquid homelessness, but I've actually always kinda liked the stuff (Busch Ice specifically, not other cheap beers). It can be a good break from pallet-wrecking IPA's. But anyway, the Manix 2 XL came in today. Some thoughts, in no particular order:
1. Excellent ergonomics in regular hammer grip, and hammer grip plus thumb ramp. Using both the finger choil and the thumb ramp feels awkward compared to the military/pm2 from the distance being so much greater, but this grip still works fine. No hotspots, but the gimping on the thumb ramp is much sharper than any other spyderco I've handled.
2. The CBBL is something I'm not used to but it'll get better with time. It's difficult to release the lock without putting a finger or 2 in the way of the blade, but I'm getting the hang of it. The lockup appears extremely solid. At first I swore that there was a very small amount of vertical blade play when you really wiggle it, but now that appears to be gone? Zero lateral blade play as well. It's funny only hearing a single "click" when the blade locks up, as opposed to the "ker-plunk" 2-click sound of a liner or comp lock locking from the detent ball. Very smooth action overall.
3. The blade size and shape are great for edc. Yes, a smaller blade could accomplish most edc tasks, but I do not feel this is over-the-top big. Good amount of belly to the edge. The spine thickness is thinner than that of a pm2 at the base, but has less taper, so that once you get close to the tip, the Manix XL is thicker. Overall, it is NOT an overly thick blade and quite tall, so it can be a formidable slicer.
4. These things don't bother me at all, but they're worthy of mentioning. The clip is nowhere close to deep carry. There's almost an inch showing above the pocket. It's also pretty wide in the pocket. It's a large knife. I don't keep anything else in my knife pocket, so this isn't a concern.
Overall, the size of this knife is right up my alley. It has great ergonomics, is actually FAR from the proverbial "sharpened prybar", and 3.8 inches of blade just isn't that monstrous. It's really more bulky than anything, but I like that. The lock is awkward for now and will take time, but I feel it will be functional for many years. But the knife overall feels very functional and gives the user a strong feeling of durability and safety. It almost feels like a fixed blade, although we all know no folder can be trusted as such. Very satisfied with this purchase. Maybe after this grows on me, I'll consider getting a mini-Manix one day.
Question: what is the spring in the CBBL made of? Can it rust? Should I oil it?
