I am on board with that too. Basically a D4 with H1 blade :)

Well then if no Spydie is "illegal" I suggest a Para Military. I love mine and is not too large if you ask me. Respectable blade length that IMHO is plenty friendly if you need to take it out in front of people. Or my other favorite, the Native.

Half tang in a FRN handle designs are plenty strong, IMO. Look at the punishment some people dish out to their Moras ...

I don't have any fixed blades in my collection, since I have very little use for them. I can't EDC them, and while camping/hiking/climbing I find a decent folder works fine. Besides, carrying a fixed blade in the Netherlands will get you a lot of :eek: looks ;)

This might be a odd question but how are they about fixed blades?

If they have no restrictions on those then I would suggest a small fixed blade and a Victorinox Swiss Tool for the smaller cutting chores. Maybe a Spyderco Moran or a Mora from Frost. My Moran drop point FB02 and a Swisstool are ...

I would also like to say that this is yet another "this is why I love this forum" type of stories. I have been on plenty of forums and NEVER had a designer, or anyone connected to the product for that matter, respond to a post. Just another reason why Spyderco is top notch and my choice.

Thanks for the responses. It puts me at ease a little. This is mostly a light to moderate use knife when I go out. I guess u can say general use. I have never had any problems with it so this wasn't much of a question of whether I could break it but whether it would break over time and general use ...

So last summer I picked up a Moran Drop Point to replace a lost BM Griptilian. It served me well for the remainder of the hiking/camping/boating season (not salt water). The only question I have is how well I should expect this to hold up over the next few years of this type of general use?

I am a LEO and my EDC on the job is a Tenacious. It has cut a few seat belts from accidents and an air bag or too. I does just fine. I have no doubt that my D2 Para would do that too and that is why it is in my bag when on duty. Right at arms reach.

My EDC while on duty has to be easy to replace ...

Although I love my Para and I think it would do very well on the kinds of work you intend to do with it, I would also suggest the Delica. I love my Delica and use that for similar jobs that you describe.

My Manix C95 was a bit gritty when I bought it but after some use and a bath or two it is as smooth as glass. Not as smooth as my D2 Para but the gritty feeling went away pretty quickly.

I would love a Manix or Military in H-1. The only real problem I feel is that keeping the FFG Blades would be too difficult. IIRC, it would be too difficult to have that many blades ground. Also those are both Golden, USA made models and H-1 is a Japanese steel. A similar style of blade though ...

1st off: an H1 slipjoint (UKPK design, or something new :) ).
3rd: a heavy duty folder with a huge backlock (manix 1 style); full H1 steel liners, lock, and ofcourse blade; topped off with either G10 or CF handles. It'll probably be too expensive to produce though ;)
