"Purple Delica - Has liners, I would trade the blade for a saber grind for durability."

I wouldn't do this automatically. My wife likes the thinner grinds. Loved the Delica 1s and 2s, doesn't like the 4 as much. Too thick, doesn't slice as well, and doesn't have the thin "pointy" tip for fine ...

Hmm, I missed that part about the makeup. I guess it is a good question ABX2011; if the chemistry was out of spec for ZDP-189? Or was the chemistry fine, but the steel structure was wrong? Just because they are not repairable or re-treatable does not mean the steel is not ZDP-189. Bad grain size, or ...

I wish more info had been provided re the ZDP mule. Are we to assume that the chemistry is off on these blades so that it's not really correct to call them ZDP-189? It's some mystery steel that resulted from an error?

I don't think so. From what I remember, the chemistry is on spec, and that ...

How about the stainless Rescue Jr? Or was it called a Mariner Jr? I think I've seen one in the last 2 years on ebay. By comparison, the WTC, 2 screw workers, brass lined Co-Pilots, even red D1s and E1s, come up for sale more often.

I'd love one.

Post it up here and over at bladeforums, limit one through the SFO. That sounds like the best way to get feedback.

I think the Mariner Salt is going on my Christmas list after this thread!

Off topic: Love the pics Murdoc, and it looks like I know what's attacking your apples. That top pic, the spot on the apple, looks exactly like my apples this year. The bug is the Plum Curculio. A bit of fruit tree spray in ...

I am not asking for a second run.

However, I'm out of town one week, to my parent's, and that's the week the forum knife becomes available. And yes, there is no internet at my parent's, ****, I don't even get cell phone coverage.

Just goes to show, sometimes dumb luck prevents us from doing the ...

Bidders going over the NIB price (from stores on Ebay) on current models is one thing. Bidding more than MSRP is absolutely nuts, and it does happen.

Of course, sometimes the sellers gets a little nuts too. Like $249.99 for a pink Delica II, buy it now only option. Crazy.

I am wondering what is the blade steel for $7.95?
Its a three layer laminate of ZDP 189, CPM M4, and titanium!

COME ON! this is supposed to be a fun little trinket. If you are serious about this steel question, you better not buy it.

When I think of a dedicated Backpacking only knife, the Remote Release springs to mind. If there were a H1 remote release, combo edge, in orange or yellow, I think you'd have it nearly perfect.

That said, I usually go camping with the 93mm Rescue, and something around my neck, usually a small CRK&T ...

ldun33, kind of a thread hijack, but I'll guess you meant to hit the new post button.

I have used poor fish, and haven't had any problems. They did have a goofy sale recently where a dragonfly blade was photoshopped onto an endura 4 handle.

For me, the dent makes closing EASIER. When I go back to a D2 or 3, or an older rescue, I find I miss the dent. My fingers now 'look' for the dent subconsciously and when it isn't there, I notice that it's gone. After a few days back to a newer model, the dent becomes oblivious to me again.

SO, in ...
