Bah, why would you remind me that it's finally out. In no way can I afford that kind of time suck at this point. The plan was to just ignore it at all costs until I reach retirement age in 2050 or so... you've ruined it, guess I have to buy it now...

I got a nice pair of Nike's, long since worn out now of course. But, in basic the Army made me pack them away and buy a pair of New Balances, also worn through and thrown away. These days I run in some Nike Lunarflys.

Howdy all! I haven't been around much lately, many goings on. I recently completed my enlistment and separated from the US Army. The transition stuff (clearing all my gear, dealing with the VA, etc. etc.) is quite time consuming. I decided to bump this VERY old thread because I feel it illustrates ...

Responsible gun owners and CHL holders have a clear responsibility to both know and adhere to the law... most of us do this better than the bulk of the non-carrying populace. This marine (no such thing as a former marine :p ) isn't doing us any favors.

What a shame... a chilling reminder not to get complacent about gun safety.

If you lie about military service to get a job, the suitable punishment is being fired and blacklisted... not jailed. If you lie about it as a cry for attention, the suitable punishment is negative attention, ridicule, and exclusion... not arrest. If you lie to get money (or stuff) from veteran's ...

But that's kind of the point of the law. Unlike lying about your conquests while in high school, the size of the fish you caught last year, or how fast the Camaro you use to own could go, lying about service is almost always done to gain some advantage. For the record, it was against the law before the SVA to falsely claim an MOH... only award with that protection. And of course, regardless of whether you claim military service... defrauding people or agencies is against the law. Point in fact, all the SVA does is make it illegal to be a jerk ...
