I've been using my paramil for over four years now, and the tip is still in good shape. I never pry with it, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate using it to open a tin can.

Carbon nanotubes found in 17th centruy damascus sword

I found this article on Digg.com and thought that some of you might find this interesting. Carbon nanotubes are a rather recent discovery and are very strong. Check Wikipedia for some background on them.

Antique Nanotubes

One inconcistancy that I notices is that the article claims that the ...

Having handled the manix, mil, and atr, but having carried none of them, my reccomendation is with the atr. It really does scream tool, and it is slim too. The ergos were great when I handled it. I didn't get to really put them to the test, but both the butt and choil of the knife are designed in ...

Deacon, you are correct, most are made by the prisoners. I was refering to commercial weapons, like guns. While I have no first hand accounts, my information comes from a friend of the family who worked in population for over a decade as a volunteer at Leavenworth United States Penitentiary. It was ...

I would find it somewhat dificult to combine traditional sikh garb with a scottish kilt, but kudos to anyone who can pull it off. :P

I think the idea behind the kirpan and dirks is that they are not used and more traditional/religious symbols and allowed for that reason. I know someone carried a ...

I have been throuroughly impressed with the byrd lines aswell. I just gave my meadowlark to my roomate after letting him carry it for a while. Careful examination shows the minor defeciencies in fit and finish, but the quality seems to be up to the level of spyderco where it counts. By far the best ...

Almite Walker

I first handled this wonder at the SFO. The feel was right then, and it still is. I passed it over at the time because it wasn't enough of a super knife. Now that I have gotten over the idea that my normal indoor campus EDC needs to be able to skin a deer, chop down a tree, and kill ninjas, I have ...

Most drugs and weapons in prisons come from the guards. Its easier to think that they are all good people, but thats just not the case. In every walk of life, we run into some bad apples if you will. This includes plenty police and corrections officers. There are just as many, if not more, good guys ...

This may be the one for me. I use a paramil for heavier tasks and the caly jr for lighter ones. I got the paramil specifically because the caly jr just didnt have enough beef for some stuff, but its a little on the large size for a universal EDC.

Mr. Fritz,
I am very disappointed in your article about folding pocketknives. Any knife is a tool, and most tools can be used to kill someone. Screwdrivers, hammers, crowbars, and just about any other tool can be used violently, but this doesn't negate the usefulness of the tool for ...

Im a lefty, and the clip is the reason one of those isnt in my collection. So, take the clip from the SS version and make it reversable on the SS and FRN knives, or use the meerkat clip, and I would be happy.

I just realized that there may be an exception to the lefty clip requirement. I really like the almite walker. I have handled it once and really enjoyed its feel and smooth action. It would also be small enough (and hopefully light enough) to carry at the top of my left pocket. How does this compare ...

they all sound great jaislandboy, but I can only afford one right now. I may just have to be prudent and get a delica 4. While I did enjoy handling the dodo alot, at the time I didn't think it would be a great EDC. Alot of that might have been my desire for a big knife at the time though.

The PKPK would definately be cool, but are they not hard to get in the US? Also, IIRC they are fairly expensive, which to me is a detracting factor. If I decide a knife is definately right for me, then I have no problems shelling out for it, but I would definately like to keep the price down. The ...
