Re: Do I need a dragonfly 2?

The question should be...Do I need only one Dragonfly 2? (I have ZDP-189 and H1 serrated, so answer is yes) Awesome pocket and people friendly knife that will tackle lots of chores.

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

Having all three in ZDP-189, Ladybug, Manbug, and Dragonfly, the Dragonfly wins for most capable for me too. Not a huge difference in actual use for me between the Manbug and the Ladybug, with the Manbug edging the win for for a slightly sturdier build and the Lady bug winning for precision feel ...

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

I now have both in hand. Initial impression is there are a few noticeable differences, we will see if they relate to much difference in use. The hardware and pivots appear identical, although the Manbug has a little thicker blade and a tiny amount more steel in the pivot area. Initially I feel very ...

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

Oh for cryin' out loud. I just saw a new open box ZDP-189 Manbug for $43. Did I simply resist and move on? No. Now I guess I will be able to verify the great comments here for myself. Do I really need one of each? Maybe...

Pretty good price! I looked for quite a while a couple of months ago and $109 was the best I found.

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

Dragonfly, got one, small fob, done deal! This little Lady's handle is slightly flexible, I'm sure because it has no liners. That should pose no problem for the light duty it will be used for, but it did surprise me a little. It has already been used to slit the tape seals on some ear bud packaging ...

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

Well, the little Lady showed up today. Pretty happy with the blade edge and overall size. It is not going to take a ton of abuse but it shaves hair and should be great for the little chores. I have somewhat small fingers and I am able to manipulate this fairly easily, although a lanyard may be in ...

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

I wish I had a dealer in town here. From the specs the size difference seems so minimal, 2mm in handle length. It would have been nice to handle them before making a purchase. Well, it's not like it's my only knife or my last knife. If it's really bad I could always send it back I guess. Thanks for ...

Re: Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

Yep, just talking zdp models here, I agree with blade shape, thinner blade, and smaller package. Do you think there is a "strength" issue here? No way you could pry with either one. If I like the size of this little knife, that hawkbill does look interesting too....

Ladybug vs Manbug in ZDP-189

I was looking at the little guys in ZDP-189 for one reason or another, (ok, because I felt like another Spyderco today) and was trying to decide between the Ladybug and the Manbug. Had I been looking at the vg-10 models, I think the Manbug was a clear winner, mostly because of the FFG blade.
I want ...

Re: GB2 and Taiwan made knives

It's funny you commented on this. I have only had my GB2 a couple of weeks, and not carried it too much. I found I need 2 hands to close the knife, and 2 hands to put it in my pocket. It is not much difference in the clip, but just enough it wants to grab your pocket. I guess I get the liner lock is ...

Re: Combo Edges: Like or Hate?

I have been looking at a Dyad too for my collection. Just not a huge fan of the blade shapes, especially the serrated blade. I think you are right, that double bladed models would outperform CE blades, and could be done in a reasonable size, lock strategy, and blade design. Other ergos would be more ...

Re: Red loctite

It is not a great thing to have too strong of loctite on those tiny little screws. Sometimes you may care less about warranty than you do about fixing whatever issue is going on with your knife, or doing some mod that you know will void your warranty. It is your knife after all. Loctite should be ...

Re: Combo Edges: Like or Hate?

Well, I think I have found the 2 Spyderco CE blade knives that make sense to keep in my collection. I chose the Endura Foilage Green, and the FRN Stretch. Both in vg10 for stain resistance and ease in sharpening. Of those 2, I think the Stretch is the overall winner. It has a better pocket friendly ...

Re: Combo Edges: Like or Hate?

I kind of settled in on vg10 with an Endura Foliage Green, and I was able to find a CE Stretch too, hopefully it's on the way. I picked those first just on what I have read on this Forum in different threads and because I have those in plain edge and know what to expect. The Endura is the sabre ...

Re: Combo Edges: Like or Hate?

Pretty sure if I only owned one knife it would be a plain edge. Still, maybe just for variety, I do own a few combo edges. I think the FFG might be worth exploring. Still no solid info on what would be the "ultimate" steel for the CE blade. I am not suggesting they are the best blade design, but if ...
