Re: Spyderco pre-order question

I pre-ordered a Swayback from Blade HQ. They didn't fill my order in the first run but the second one. It was fully seamless but I did not get an email about it. I only knew is was there because I also had the in stock alert tagged.

This sure feels like someone sitting in at a sushi bar wondering why they won't make him a pepperoni pizza.

It's all food right?

Re: Yojimbo vs PM2 durability

I dinged the tip of my Yojimbo cross hatching some pork belly. Not on the pork but when I tagged the tray during a cut. I cleaned the burr off with the groove in a sharpmaker stone. Even though the damage was microscopic I'm always going to know it's there. I have a couple PM2s and I haven't hit tho...

Re: The perceived need for instantaneous one hand operation has driven folding knife design into a dead end

I think we're probably some time away from nano putty knives and tools. I do think that in the near future; at least within my kid's lifetimes they won't buy knives in stores. They will buy a file and a chunk of feedstock. Both will go into a home 3D printer that will overnight print out your 3V PM2...

None of those for me. My vote is for uncoated M4/ghost jade for a Street Beat.

Re: Will the ARK fit my needs?

It's a tiny little knife. Could be good for goldfish.

I found my Spidiechef was a bit small for trout.

If I caught more fish instead of just casting I might be temped by a Waterway.

Re: Hypothesis For Swayback's Pocket Clip

It's a glaring aesthetic mismatch. It's like wearing crocs with a 3-piece suit. Or this. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EAZnBxnWsAEMW80.jpg “Aesthetic” seems to be your issue. We don’t all share them. That's fine I'm not on a crusade. It's just that if someone asks me why I don't like the clip I'm abl...

Re: The comings and goings of a SwayBack

I always suggest for expensive knives folks get them in hand first and then decide.

I find as price goes up something I don't like is amplified. This has save me a tonne of $$$$.

Re: Hypothesis For Swayback's Pocket Clip

Sal commented in a different thread on a different site that the exact clip used was chosen by the designer. There was no follow up detail but I have an opinion. I would guess that there had been a different clip planned and the production of that clip was sabotaged by the COVID-19 pandemic. So the...

Re: Letter from SFO after sending in an exclusive for Warranty Repair

Usually if it's an exclusive that's unfixable they send you options of other possible replacements. That's what I've seen for other folks who've sent in discontinued or otherwise scarce knives.

Re: Anyone ever purchased from herooutdoors.com

Nope; they're dicey.

You want a good place up in Canada to get Spyderco from hit up Warriors & Wonders/Blades Canada in Vancouver. But if you're in the USA I can't see why you'd go that route unless it's something really rare.
