If one of the existing locks was just invented today which one would get the most noise about wanting it on all knives?

I'd be curious about a top-mounted lock, but still able to actuate the CBBL. At Blade Show this year, Ocaso knives showed off a prototype with a variant of the shark lock that was inset into the top of the handle. I'm wondering just what could exist for something similar w/ a ball lock ...

So again, what's a self close bias? Hard to open or something else?

Maybe I want it too but it's not being clearly defined.


How about make it require more effort to open because a mechanism in conjunction with the compression lock pushes the blade or pulls the blade towards a closed position ...

Yeah it was a bit of a trial to get the Knife Jester Joker one (and now that dealer has shut).

So people want the compression lock to work and feel more like a back lock (a lock that already exists). Hard pass.

Any Jester really. I think Knife Joker and St Nicks were the last two. I have the Knife Jester, it's been in my pocket daily since I got it.

Can anyone clarify what a "self close bias" is for this specific case? I find the regular compression lock super easy to one hand open and close.

I like the compression lock and I like the button lock. But I've never bought a knife based on the lock alone.

I don't mind the Smock blade shape. I can cut stuff with it fine. Same as using a kitchen knife. I do get puzzled by folks who think the Smock's blade shape will turn them into a character ...

That is a great thread. Started about hardness testing in 2019 but now arguing if AI is really that smart.

If you go on the Gram with a knife that doesn't have as many Rockwells as theoretically possible you'll be laughed out the front door.

The HRC Mafia knows that's the only number that matters when garnering likes.

Oh if only someone would invent some kind of other lock to use. Or a bunch of different locks.
