Re: Can we (civilly) discuss fixed blade prices?

As others have noted it's definitely the cumulative effect of a combination of factors. Economy of scale certainly enters into it. Materials and machining complexity can add to the cost. Country of manufacture and exchange rates can also enter into it, as can differences in the royalty percentages p...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Just picked this up as part of a trade deal the other day. Its a Smith & Wesson Model 4506-1. I'd never seen one before and had no idea what it was beyond the obvious, but it looked good and felt great in my hand. Figured owning another gun in .45ACP is never a bad thing, especially a DA/SA semi-aut...

Re: POLL: More Atlantic Salt versions (leafshape, drop point...) based on its already existing, very "pm2-ish" handle?

I'd probably buy one of each of the shapes mentioned but, to be honest, I'm not terribly excited by any of them. I'd be a lot more enthusiastic about a leaf bladed version of the Stretch. For one thing, I don't "need" a totally rust proof knife every day but, perhaps more importantly, because the on...

Re: T8 clip screws

I may be the odd man out here, but I think that if Spyderco switched to screws with a larger Torx size head without a proportional increase in screw diameter they'd start experiencing a major increase in "stripped threads" complaints. Too many gorillas out there who think "the tighter the better".

Re: Thee Most Practical Spyder Of All Time? Your Choice?

The FRN VG-10 Calypso Jr. would get my vote. Small enough to be easy to carry and not frighten too many people. Large enough for most things most folks would do with a pocket knife. Thin and featherweight, so you don't even notice you're carrying it. Pointy enough to pick splinters and, 20+ years af...

Re: Laminated spine?

Makes sense it would go all the way since the blades are cut out of a large sheet of laminated steel rather than being individually laminated. How visible the "stripe" will be on the spine depends on how different the shades of grey of the core and cladding steels are, or become over time.

Re: Atlantic Salt in ffg LC200N - won´t it be a great platform for a "wharnie-modded general EDC"?

I can imagine that you´d like to carry the Atlantic sizewise, since it has roughly Stretch-dimensions... ;) / But concerning custom scales: Do you think this could be done, given that the Atlantic has no liners? Yep, that's one reason I like the Atlantic. PE with a straight edge being brain-dead ea...

Re: Atlantic Salt in ffg LC200N - won´t it be a great platform for a "wharnie-modded general EDC"?

To be honest, I'd be very tempted to carry a PE LC200N Atlantic just the way it is on rainy days, but perhaps that's because I always have a Kiwi with me if I need something with an acute point. Heck, if I like it enough, might even look for someone to make me a set of scales and a backspacer for one.

Re: Very convincing fake except for the box. USA made Delica 4 apparently lol

Maybe it is the picture but the FRN makeup does not look right. It looks like some other material. However, the rest of the knife, itself, looks very convincing. The box is obviously a fake. Or, whoever was operating the label maker that day punched in the wrong CoO and nobody caught the error. Str...

Re: Have I Gone Colorblind?

I must be going colorblind as well. Olight claims this is desert tan... Yep, Olight's idea of "desert tan" is pretty far off. I have a Baldr Mini laser weapon lights in it and it's several shades darker brown than the "flat dark earth" Sig Emperor Scorpion I have it mounted on. But at least it's so...

I'm old, and my eyes aren't what they use to be, but in what alternate universe is this jacket GREEN ? http://paulberetta.com/images/external/forums/spyderco/colorblind.png Color looks exactly the same in their printed catalog as on my monitor, so am sure it's not my computer settings.

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

I'd consider getting one, since it would probably be small enough to fit in my back pocket, but I'm still trying to imagine what a 3.5" blade Police 4 would bring to the table that a G10 straight spine Stretch, which might be a lot easier to convince Spyderco to make since all the tooling already ex...

Re: Boye dent poll. Let your voice be heard or be a sheep in a herd.

Very strong preference for "dentless" midlocks. There's one model in particular, the Schempp Persian, that I love the look of but will not carry anymore because the 4 sharp corners on the Boye dent make closing it uncomfortable when my hands are acting up.

Re: So how does a fake knife get checked at Spyderco ?

Hard to say. Spyderco is a fairly small company. W&R turnaround is normally about 3 weeks, but between the fact that they get busier before and during hunting season, that prepping for the annual Factory 2nds Sale may be an "all hands" operation, and whatever impact government mandates to "flatten t...

Re: Wow this is funny. Look at this guys feedback. Selling fake knifes even Benchmades

eCop is a huge business with a huge inventory. Their negative feedback is in line with what you see from many huge retailers - people receiving order cancellations or incorrect items about 1% of the time, with sketchy customer service if something does go wrong. They have hundreds of transactions p...

Latest addition to the toy box. It's a Kel-Tec CP33 that I bought last week on GunBroker from a dealer in another state and picked up a my local's shop yesterday. .22LR, 33 round magazine  :D , a threaded barrel, and the best factory sights of any handgun I own. http://www.paulberetta.com/Handg...
