Re: FedEx

Given the choice, I'll opt for USPS shipping every time. UPS would always be my second choice, FEDEX a distant third, and DHL so distant a fourth as to be just barely ahead of having the shipper tie the package to some helium filled balloons and letting it fly off.

Re: Stretched Stretch - continued from Straight spine thread

If Sal thinks it will sell, the by all means Spyderco should make it. That said, I'd be more interested in a Stretch 2, either straight spine or regular, with an extra 1/4" of blade than an even larger version of the Stretch. Either would be legal to carry where I live but I'm fairly certain that a ...

New Service From the USPS

Over the years I've read many posts where folks complained about the inconvenience of packages that need to be signed for, so I thought I'd pass along something I saw this morning on the US Postal Service website. USPS has just announced a new service for those who use their "Informed Delivery" opti...

Re: The Spyderco Rescue Designer? History?

I'm pretty certain that the Spyderco RESCUE models were all "In House" designs. And I'm about 98% certain that Sal Glesser is the creator of the RESCUE models throughout the years. My favorite is the Stainless handled RESCUE from the ATS-55 era. That Stainless RESCUE is built like an Abrams Tank :c...

Re: Straight Spine Stretch

In my opinion, if there's a difference in blade length between the straight spine and regular Stretch 2, it's very, very small. I'd put it at under 1mm, or somewhere around 1/64th of an inch, at most. Same goes for edge length. As for the "wasted" space in the handle. That was the price that had to ...

Re: Straight Spine Stretch

Do you happen to know what size the washers of the Endura (or Endela) have, resp. if they are larger and thicker than on Delica and seemingly the Stretch? Sure I could have a look myself, for I own all of these models, but I don´t like to disassemble my Seki FRN knives if I don´t have to, but maybe...

As others have noted, iIt's not a CC#. Up until the early 2000's the entire first run of collaboration models, like the Lum, were numbered.

Re: Gentleman EDC / Groomsman Gift

Well, it depends on how much he wants to spend per knife. Spydiechefs would be around $220 each. You can get CF Chaparrals for around $130 each, the Rafir Noble version for $133 and, right now, both the plain stepped and blue stepped titanium versions can be found on closeout for around $200. All th...

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

All of the ice on the planet could melt and the sea level won't rise one inch. The Earth is 2/3 water, the math just never added up on that one and it never will no matter how they try and cook it... One doesn't have to be a math genius to figure that one out... It would have to rain for like 100 y...

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

NASA says: “Global warming is the rise in average global surface temperature caused primarily by the build-up of human-produced greenhouses gases, mostly carbon dioxide and methane, which trap heat in the lower levels of the atmosphere. No offense Chris, but it will be a cold day in hell before I c...

Re: "Re-surface" Almite

Yeah I think you're right about that. I've had two of those Terzuola models over the years and both of mine where anodized aluminum handles. Other than the original 2002 era Massad Ayoob C-60 model I'm struggling to remember what other Spyders did have Almite handles? It does seem like that I remem...

Re: "Re-surface" Almite

Don't think that's Almite, Larry. Mainly because the 1993 catalog describes the Terzuola's as having "anodized aluminum" handles, but also because Almite is normally shiny while every Terzuola I've ever seen was dull looking and felt almost chalky. Not sure if you can partially refinish an anodized ...

Re: Are you done with 2019, Spydie wise? What do you wish for in 2020?

It depends on a couple things. I have 2 straight spine Stretches on pre-order that may, or may not, arrive before the end of the year. And, if the lower price versions of the Murray Carter kitchen knives get released this month, and are stainless, I'll be purchasing one or more of them this year.

Re: What number of Spydercos are in your active rotation?

Are we talking models, or individual knives. If models, it would be 7: Jester, Kiwi, Stretch, Chaparral, Kopa, Centofante Memory, and Atlantic Salt. But, the Kiwi is any one of 60+, the Stretch any one of a dozen or so, the Kopa one of 3, and the Chaparral one of 2. Basically it's my Jester and one ...

Re: Sports superstars Majoring in "Stupidity"

That kind of behavior is exactly why The rules are so strict and football and also why there are laws against that sort of thing. This kind of behavior amongst these people is not all that new. Look at Aaron Hernandez who killed rather murdered multiple people while playing for the patriots. Look a...

Re: Straight Spine Stretch

Im wondering if ivory frn will be as rare as white frn. Considering that there were three simultaneous Sprint Runs (Delica, Endura, and Dragonfly) in white FRN, plus the original "commissioned run" white FRN Rescue, and there may also have been a white FRN Ladybug (possibly a JDM item), ivory proba...

Re: Are We Intended To Be "Herd Animals"?

Given that we're predators, rather than prey animals, I'd like to think we're more pack animals than herd animals. As such, our pack (at the lowest level family, at the highest nation) may fight with other packs over goods and territory. So yes, to some degree, our behaviors are hard wired and instin...

Why do I feel like a thin later of A/B epoxy paint is better than DLC?

No matter what type of coating you use, the edge grind will still be bare steel, and rust that begins there can creep under the coating and remain undetected there until it's severe.
