Re: Blemishes? Advice Needed

I love my new Z-Wear Shaman, and consider myself lucky to have scored one, thanks to a heads-up from a member on this forum (SteelCity16). My issue (is it one?) is that my new specimen came with a scratch on the blade, and it stands out to me every time that I handle the knife. Is this something th...

Re: The Return of the Persian

I can look into it. Full flat? Steel" handle material? Bolsers? Changes? Ed's opinon? sal For me, the ideal Schempp Persian would have smooth bolsters, a full flat grind blade of VG-10 or something at least as rust resistant, polished G-10 scales (preferably affixed with screws so they could be rep...

Re: MAPLE CHAP SHIPPING TO DEALERS WOO HOO

Mine arrived yesterday, and to say I'm totally pleased with it would be an understatement. Have to venture into Greenville's city limits twice next week, so it will get some pocket time. :) http://paulberetta.com/images/chaparral/images/Birdseye%20Chap%20Closed%20Left.jpg http://paulberetta.com/imag...

Been an NRA Life Member since 1967, upgraded to Benefactor a few years back. In the past year have given to FPC at least once, and to GOA and SAF multiple times. Also have GOA as my Amazon Smile charity. Know they don't get a heck of a lot from that, do it more to piss off Amazon's SJW snowflakes.

Re: How?

One thing to keep in mind, the stock status shown on Spyderco's website only reflects the item's status at the Spyderco Factory Outlet. There may be any number of a given knife in Spyderco's warehouse, but none of them may be currently allocated to SFO. The fact that something appears "out of stock"...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Spotted this brand new in box 9mm Beretta PX4 Storm on GunBroker a week ago Saturday at what was, in today's market, a very reasonable price and couldn't resist the idea of having all three sizes in 9mm. Picked it up from my local gun shop this past Friday. http://www.paulberetta.com/Handgun%20Photo...

Would rather see a full tang version with some nice scales, but If K390 is at least as stainless as VG-10, I'd get one. Otherwise, no thanks.
It's not stainless like VG-10.

Ah well. On the bright side, more money for ammo. :D

Re: Others Spyderco Competitors

I guess my basic problem is that, aside from D/A OTF automatics, I have yet to find any fully ambidextrous locking folder with an opening mechanism as easy for me to operate as Spyderco's Spyderhole. I own a number of folders by other makers and might even own one or two that some might say offer "m...

Re: PE Harpy

The same goes with the Peter Herbst model that was launched during the ATS-55 era. They made a few of them in VG-10 too but good luck trying to find one. I would love to make a "user" out of my VG-10 Merlin but my gut tells me not to because I may never see another one. But again I'm starting to wo...

Re: MAPLE CHAP SHIPPING TO DEALERS WOO HOO

Good to hear they're finally on the way to dealers. Hoping to see a shipping notice in the next few days for the one I pre-ordered when they were first announced.

Re: PE Harpy

Is a FFG Harpy possible? I'd say it's probably possible, but it's probably unlikely. Hey Mr. Paul which blade steel does that Merlin have? The reason I ask because a little while back I snagged a VG-10 Merlin NIB. And those are really tough to find. It was only the second one I've ever seen in VG-1...

Re: PE Harpy

Have several... Original and JDM VG-10 all stainless. The originals are rare, and getting rarer. Their one-piece combo lock spring and backspacer tends to work harden, become brittle and break. http://www.paulberetta.com/images/knives3/pe_harpies.jpg and the carbon fiber Sprint Run version... http:/...

Re: Speculation: Do you think that the Autonomy 1 will be discontinued?

Nope. I think it would make sense for them to switch it from H-1 to LC200N, and perhaps go to a full flat grind like the Autonomy 2, but I don't think it will go away.

Re: Use of word "patina" by knife enthusiasts

Nope, it doesn't bother me at all. Most of the knife related posts I've seen where the word "patina" is used, it is being used to mean a coating of oxidation that is not "rust" on the blade of a knife. Said coating may occur naturally, as the result of cutting certain things, or be induced by the kn...

Re: Old Abercrombie and Fitch catalogs in PDF

Thanks for the links, kwakster. These catalogs are great! :) When I first read the title of your post, I thought you were sharing catalogs from the modern company that got into hot water for featuring underaged kids cavorting in their underwear. I had no idea that they originally sold outdoor gear. ...

Re: Looking for model #

I think the stainless models are pinned and the hardware is concealed. Probably a pain to get apart. Am I wrong? I do feel like the OP should just get the "regular" Civilian and save himself some weight. If he really wants smooth scales, he can sand down the G-10 some. Nope, you're absolutely corre...

Re: Looking for model #

Thanks guys, I’m leaning towards something custom at this point. There’s literally zero information out there on it. If it was custom then props to the guy that did it because it looked factory for sure. I certainly hope it wasn’t lifted from the factory. There were no inserts in the handle. The sc...
