That, fundamentally is how the scientific methods works. I suggest a recent, basic book on the history of science to illustrate the process.

Hard to respond, as I have no idea which part of my post you were referencing.

Re: Anybody still use CASH?

Short simple answer would be rarely. Longer answer would be that I carry a $20 bill in my wallet, just in case, but it's been there for a few years now. There are only a few cases where I actually pay for something with cash. I pay the gentleman who mows my lawn every couple weeks with cash, as that...

Re: Has the Coronavirus affected your daily life?

That self-isolation has been framed as a “lockdown” smacks of knee-jerk anti-governmentalism. Given the need for coordination beyond one’s own worm’s-eye view, this resistance is plainly inappropriate for the times. Call me a worm but, to me, self-isolation implies a voluntary action on the part of...

Re: Has the Coronavirus affected your daily life?

The WuFlu still hasn't had much impact on my life, but I finally broke down and bought a mask, just in case SC, or my county says I absolutely, positively, have to wear one in public.

Re: Trying to find out how old this stainless harpy pe

Clip markings are not totally reliable. An older knife may have a newer replacement clip and a newer knife could conceivably have had its clip replaced by an older one. Blade markings, although they will only give you a date range, are more reliable. If there is no steel marking beneath SPYDERCO on ...

It's about following the guidelines in the end and making sure the people actually do follow them. Follow the science.... ;) To date, "the science" regarding the Wuhan virus has been wrong more often that it's been right. It's easy, in retrospect, to cherry pick the few theories that have been righ...

Re: Anyone else dislike the wire pocket clip?

I have mixed feelings about the wire clip. As a general rule I remove clips from any knives I'm going to carry and, in that regard, find the "channels" left when a wire clip is removed even less attractive than the screw holes left when a conventional 3 screw clip is removed. With screw holes, at le...

Re: Question about ZDP189

I'll admit, I've never been a fan of ZDP-189. For one thing I found it far less rust resistant than VG-10. For another, I found that although it held an edge considerably longer it took considerably longer to sharpen, so a wash in that regard. Personally, I can't justify paying more for that set of ...

If there was an award for "Coolest thing on the web today," then you'd take home the prize. The swords are neat, and I love it when the youngin's use their hands, tools, and minds to do things.

Re: I like that Spyderco brings out so many new models, but...

To each his own. The way I see it, Spyderco has brought out hundreds of models over the years. Many have failed to catch on and disappeared from the lineup. A few have had only marginal success, attracting just enough of a following to remain in production for 5-10 years. Only a handful have been ma...

Not at all, at least not to me. IMHO, fobs make a lot more sense on smaller "vest pocket"/"watch pocket" knives than on larger ones.

Re: Missing 411: Really Strange

So, the scientific method has failed us so miserably that we are still living in huts and lighting the world only by fire. Got it. Where is my flying car? Why can't I buy a jet pack? When will I be able to vacation on the moon? So, basically...yes. The people who made those predictions were futuris...

Re: Should I be Disappointed?

So, question: What makes the Paysan, or Nirvana (the other Peter Rassenti collaboration) worth more than a CRK Sebenza? Obviously a round hole, and bit nicer steel. What else? Don't know, but perhaps it's that they're production versions of far more expensive custom knives that are unlikely to ever...

Re: 3 Classics You Want To See As SPRINT RUNS

Original bolstered Kiwi with stag scales.

Bolstered Schempp Persian with wood scales like the one prototype Sal has and without the Boye dent.

Ocelot with front bolsters, jigged bone scales and no Boye dent.

All the above in VG-10. FFG would be the cherry on top.

Re: First time you saw a Sypderco?

Been carrying a knife since the mid 1950's, but I didn't discover Spyderco knives until 2003, so I was fairly late to the party. Might still be carrying a Buck Prince, but I was reading Hannibal and came across a reference to several Spyderco knives. Wasn't sure if they were something real, or just ...

It would be expensive, and illegal to carry in most places, not to talk about the sheeple reaction when you take out your OTF,so the market will be very small.Collectible-sure. I don't think "most places" are illegal, just a few states. I think it's a common misconception. https://www.akti.org/state-...

Re: Please forgive me

Why would any of that require forgiveness? Heck, most days a carry 3 Japanese Spydercos. Two are VG-10, one might be AUS-6, AUS-8, or ATS-34, I've never been able to pin that down. They're all folders, all midlocks, only 1 is FFG, and at least one, most often two, have been customized.

The Kiwi, by a mile. I've carried one in my watch pocket nearly every day for the past 17 years.
