Re: Anyone prefer manual seats in a car?

As long as the driver's seat goes back far enough that I can have the steering wheel far enough back for ease of entry and exit, I really don't care if it's manual or power. That said, I really do like that I can push one button and return the seat to "my" settings for height, seatback tilt, lumbar ...

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

Not as a general rule. However, out of the ones I use, I've had one folder and a couple of the Kitchen Sharps that failed the thumbnail test and got sharpened immediately.

Re: Is weak detente a warranty issue?

Only way to know for sure whether it's a warranty issue would be to send the knife back to Spyderco for evaluation. Before doing that, if you haven't already done so, I'd suggest making sure there's nothing in the dimple in the tang that the ball detent is suppose to drop into to provide blade reten...

Re: Curious...

I agree that Google works a LOT BETTER than the search feature on this site, but wouldn't it be nice to click on "Native Chief" and see 25 different opinions on that model all in one place? Instead of combing through search results? I highly doubt this will happen but I do think it would be benefic...

Re: Curious...

What do you guys think about a subsection of this forum that is focused on knife reviews? I don't want to start a new thread every time I get a new knife and give my thoughts and opinions on the model, i feel it would clog up the General discussion section. But what if there was a knife review sect...

Re: Spyderhawk Salt Sprint - Washers?

Instead of separate washers, the older one piece FRN handles have concentric rings molded into them that serve to reduce the bearing surface between the handle and the blade tang.

Re: Literally, a shit knife.

I've seen knives with coprolite (fossilized poop) scales. Heck, they even make jewelry out of the stuff. As for the stabilized cow poop, I'd have to see it to pass judgment. Almost wonder if the folks who made those were listening a few years back when I said I'd prefer scales of stabilized dog poop...

Re: Native Designer

In house designs did not start getting "maker's marks" until Eric joined the design team. His designs bore his mark and, from that point forward, so have Sal's. IIRC Eric's first was the Dodo, so any in house design prior to that probably won't have a mark.

Re: Are you a collector?

I consider myself more of an accumulator than a collector, but, as far as knives, I have a fair number of Spydercos and some knives from other makers. Those are mostly types of knives Spyderco does not offer like push daggers, DA OTF Autos, and "Italian" style switchblades. Some get carried and used...

Re: grasshopper sprint

If a locking folder would meet the OP's needs, he might want to consider the A G Russell Simple 3" Lockback. 3" is the closed length, so it's just a bit less than a quarter inch longer than the Grasshopper closed and has a 2.5" blade that's .2" longer than the Grasshopper's. It has an FRN handle, 8C...

G10 might be feasible, doubt FRN would be due to the cost of the mold.

Re: H1 SE Tatanka LW Salt Anyone???

I just want a massive hunk of serrated H1 to swing around!! :D With how popular and legendary the Pacific Salt is, I would think there would be a market for some larger H1 Salt blades like a Police LW Salt and a Tatanka LW Salt. I don't really have a desire for the non-salt G10 versions of these kn...

Kudos to the US Postal Service!

Seems like the only time anyone posts a thread about the Post Office is when something gets lost or damaged. OTOH, I've always considered their service excellent, and yesterday was no exception. Couple weeks back, I ordered a small part for my Mercedes SLK350 from the eBay listing of outfit in Germa...

Re: NY Giveth & NY Taketh – New NY Knife Ban Signed Into Law

Since they don't have an edge or a point, and thus can't be "read(ily) use(s) as a stabbing or cutting weapon," trainers wouldn't be subject to the law. Folks outside the Rotten Apple may be safe, but given NYC's "creative" interpretations of other knife laws, can you be sure those living there wil...

Grew my moustache when I was still in high school and have had it continuously for over 50 years. Added a beard shortly after graduation and, with a couple brief exceptions, have had one ever since as well although the style has varied from full to goatee. For the last 10 years or so it,s been more ...

Re: Favorite Scales?

None of the above, actually. However, of the choices given, I'd go with smooth G10, Pakawood, and solid CF. That said, I think both G10 and Pakawood look much better on a rounded handle than a flat one, or with the type of corrugated texture used on the Zulu and PPT. I'd also like to see both those ...

Be very careful Doc, oxycodone earned the nickname Hillbilly Heroin for a reason. Major addiction problems with that stuff in some parts of the country. Lot of it among senior citizens.

I see the image, but I also see a SPAM link to a bank finder. Is that something you posted intentionally, or is that the "price" for using that image hosting site?
