Re: So I stripped a pivot screw.

Have you ever encountered a Spyderco with a D slot for the pivot or body screws where the outer hollow "nut" portion had a Torx, Allen, or Phillips head? My experience disassembling Spydercos is admittedly limited, but any such fasteners I've encountered had simple flat or domed heads, so no way yo...

Re: So I stripped a pivot screw.

some knives have a pivot screw on one side that is immobile (D slot). That is easy to strip since it doesn’t move. Have you ever encountered a Spyderco with a D slot for the pivot or body screws where the outer hollow "nut" portion had a Torx, Allen, or Phillips head? My experience disassembling Sp...

Re: Super Blue

Have an extremely strong preference for stainless steels, so I would not purchase anything in Super Blue as a user and the only model I'd by in Super Blue for my collection would be a Stretch 2.

Re: LUM China Folder Hardware

Not familiar with the titanium version, but if it uses the same clip as the almite coated aluminum ones shown below, there are going to be few, if any, other models that used it. Swapping screws, with the possible exception of clip screws, between models will also be problematic. http://www.paulbere...

Re: Sun/Moon Chappy

I am not sure how difficult it will be to obtain but my guess is that it won't be in regular production for very long. I feel that the design is too polarizing and as much as some of us love it there seem to be others who dislike the design just as much. Short answer, I would recommend that you buy...

Re: Sun/Moon Chappy

It does make me wonder why the manix lw is made with frcp if frn can be made so much cheaper than g10, though. So they can do the translucent? Julia, the reason for the disparity may also be that Spyderco may have chosen to sell the G10 Manix 2 at a lower than normal profit margin. Know they've don...

Re: Reveal 4, What's your favorite release?

Oh yeah, very true, everyone has their own taste and needs. For some reason I think that Nightstick has a hole in blade in a center, not on the second bevel....interesting desing choice.... I'll grant you that catalog illustrations have occasionally been inaccurate in the past. I'll also grant you ...

Re: Forum Knife 2020 - No Holds Barred!!!

K08 Santoku in the standard MBS-26 blade steel, but with a brown handle. Legal everywhere, affordable at under $100, and useful for those who use their forum knives.

Didn't Santa Fe stoneworks do dressed up Bugs?

Yes, and they still may. Of course theirs only feature overlays on a regular SS Bug, so not quite what Doc Dan is after either in terms of steel or handle. OTOH, not sure how practical an unlined G10 handle would be on a knife that small.

Re: Reveal 4, What's your favorite release?

Well, I mustn't have been wearing my reading glasses when I looked at the Reveal. Nightstick is only single edge and has a useless hole in the blade, so it's off my list. Sun Moon Chap is now #1 and Rock Glass #2 for me. You could always grind the other edge on the Nightstick and put an edge on it....

Re: Sun/Moon Chappy

Standard black G10 with a small inlay, a different colored G10 on the other side with a different small inlay, same XHP steel...for $70 more than the standard frn version...this feels like the biggest rip off of the new reveal. Was very surprised and disappointed in the price. Also. Is it white or ...

For me, it's the Nightstick, with the Sun/Moon Charparral a close second and the Rock Glass third. Well, I mustn't have been wearing my reading glasses when I looked at the Reveal. Re: What is your dominant hand / forum statistics

I voted ambidextrous because I'm "somewhat" ambidextrous. I can do most things with either hand but, in many cases, can do them more efficiently with one than the other. When I was a kid I could write equally well with either hand, but now use just my right, I can open and close folding knives more ...

Re: Sprints

Part of the original question was how we feel about Sprints. I guess I'm lucky. I reached the point with my collection several years ago that the only Spydercos I generally purchase are variants of the models I like best and Forum knives. The result is that 99% of the Sprints offered are of no inte...

Re: Sprints

I think a possible solution here is to make a system like the collector's club for forum members where pre-orders are literally pre-sales where sprints are paid for up front and then production is based on the total number of pre-sales plus maybe a bit more to cover any possible warranty/replacemen...

Re: Sprints

Does Spyderco exist for users or collectors? I would say that Spyderco exists for its customers. Sal may prefer his knives to be used but, at the end of the day, a sale is a sale and sales are what keep any company in business so any sale, whether to a user or collector, is of equal value to Spyder...

Re: Sprints

You are missing the whole point.... Acquiring merchandise in a fraudulent manner in the 1st place is what makes it illegal. If they do it over the internet in some way gaming the system that makes it illegal because they used the internet to do it, cyber crime... Federal Crime.... Now since that me...

Re: Sprints

That's why the serial number idea is best. :) Only in the sense that at least some of the folks who object to extraneous writing on their knives would stop buying Sprints. You do know that any dishonest activity over the internet is illegal right? It's all fraud.... Then once they mail it that's ma...

Re: Sun/Moon Chappy

I'm looking forward to this Chaparral. Put in my pre-order yesterday. May I ask: Where can one preorder it already? (Though I really hope it will hit European dealers eventually too... much easier for me) There may be other dealers taking pre-orders as well, but mine is with KnifeCenter. Have no id...
