So many to choose from... Chinook II - this knife, assuming I can find a dealer who has one, will most certainly be my first new Spyderco purchase for 2004. If for no other reason (and there are actually plenty of other reasons) than that, after all my "remember us lefties" posts, I have t...

Any one interested in a PE 93mm Rescue?

In a reply to a post over on the BF Spyderco forum regarding the forward finger notch on the blue handled 93mm Rescue I asked Sal, more as a joke than anything else, "how big a bribe it would take" to get one in plain edge. I say "as a joke", not because I did not sincerely want ...

Jeff, my older black Calypso Jr. also has the hole in the clip. On the Calypso Jrs, it is more for clearance than for access, but it may be the same clip used on the Shabaria where it does allow access to the adjustable pivot. For either purpose I think it's a good idea. On tip down models, it allow...

Yes, thanks Sal, the Calypso Jr is one sweet little knife. Mt Goat, I have a black one, and just received my grey one yesterday from NGK, fit and finish on the two are identical, grinds are symetrical, blades well centered. The only noticable differences are the color and the clip, and I really do l...

Very, very nice work there Dialex. Am hard put to pick a favorite between #1 and #3 in the second picture. Your revisions to the handle are excellent, have often wished the D'fly handle was more like that of the Pegasus, and your design accomplishes that quite nicely.

Dann, you are needlessly depriving yourself of the opportunity to own what is, IMHO, one of the best of the FRN Spydercos. The S30V Native has great steel, great ergonomics, and what is possible the smoothest action ever put in a front lock. If you buy from a reputable dealer, or a reputable eBay se...

My feeling would be that, if you live near the seacoast or where salt is used on the roads in winter, or use you knife around other corrosive material, then the Salt has a decided advantage, unless you absolutely require the more pointed blade of the Delica. For everyone else it becomes a matter of ...

Ted, there is a similar thread in the BF Spyderco forum as well, and Sal did post what I felt was a very well worded and infomative reply in that one. Edited to add: For what it's worth, my first reaction on seeing the picture was "man that's one pimped up looking Spyderco". Paul Edited by...

Ah, the infamous BRK Native once again rears it's ugly little head. I for one did not find your title inflammatory Ted, but must admit I kind of guessed your post would have something to do with a BRK when I read it. I'd venture a guess (strictly a guess mind you, no "insider information" ...

Couple very nice finds there Daywalker! No worry on the little guy, altough I'll admit that last weekend, when I freezing my butt off shoveling my car out of a foot and a half of snow, I was thinking how unfair life is that the little guy is destined to live out its days in the warm Hawaiian sun. In current production or soon to be released, the grey FRN Calypso Jr and the Chinook II are at the top of my list. That really sucks, Warren has always been a pleasure to deal with. My Spyderco collection would be a lot smaller without all the knives I've gotten from him. Hope they catch the thief or thieves and throw the book at them, hope he had good insurance too.

Hi Moon, First understand that the knife laws in most places are intentionally vague. This gives LEOs some degree of discretion in deciding what constitutes a violation. This can be good or bad. On the one hand, it allows an officer to defuse a situation by making an arrest based on a "good fai...

Well Jestyr, the three most applicable sections of KY law (with BOLD added for emphasis) seem to be these: 527.020 Carrying concealed deadly weapon. Well if we can only go back a mere 15 years, then it would be a Buck 501 up to about seven months ago, and an ever increasing assortment of Spydercos since then. Going back further, the Buck, purchased in '78, replaced a well worn Case Whaler that had been in my pocket since around '60. The Buck did...
