Re: Classy, heirloom Spydie

A couple more that might be worth a look are the Stainless Kopa and the Schempp Bowie. I’m also partial to the Chaparral and Baby Horn as edc models.

Re: Li'l Native Slip joint: Perfect pocket knife?

Held off on the back lock Lil Native hoping for a slippie, but I’m still not sure how much pocket time it would get vs. other models like the Urban and Chaparral (or even my lw Natives). Has the Lil Native (lock type aside) become anyone’s preferred small folder over other stalwarts in the lineup? W...

Re: MAP pricing policy favors amazon. Bad for vendors (that are not Amazon) and consumers.

I generally don’t buy knives on Amazon and certainly have no interest in gaming their return policy. Have actually never received a Spydie that I wanted to return or send in under warranty. Can’t say I have a clear favorite online vendor, tend to spread it around the usual suspects: Blade HQ, Cutler...

Re: What do you think of metal handles?

Voted "ambivalent." I suppose generally, I'd say no to metal scales.. but... Same. Used to be fairly solidly in the “no” camp, but then I got a PITS and loved it. Still a regular carry for me. As SharpGuy mentioned I also like how it gets warm from being carried, mine usually rides iwb. Also like a...

Re: Could use some Advice

Just sent you a lead via PM for the black on black version. Otherwise if you want to wait it should be restocked at other retailers eventually. (I don’t have any rit dye experience.)

Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ

If someone has the time, can you explain to me what Kristi means about being swarmed by bots? How does that work? Do people write software to make automatic purchases of anything/everything that appears, or...? Is a bot sophisticated enough to understand: "if knife X appears for price Y, buy it aut...

Yep, this right here. Posted that I thought bots would be a big issue in a thread on the bf sub a couple of weeks ago. There was a lot of skepticism, but I’m glad Spyderco anticipated the problem, even if they’re still somewhat overwhelmed.

Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ

Was able to view the intial list, but now can’t get anything to come up. From the first look I won’t be terribly disappointed if I don’t have a chance to buy anything.

Re: Left handed PM2

Another lefty opinion. I can operate righty comp locks just fine with either hand and still overwhelmingly prefer the left hand model. I prefer it so I can use the now standard index finger closing that 99%+ of right handers use. Yes, the original comp lock on the Gunting was set up as what we now r...

Re: Spyderco’s best kept secret

Crazy reading Sal’s post... Have been carrying my PITS a lot lately and was musing earlier today about how great it is. How I kind of wish I had picked up another and that maybe it was just a bit ahead of its time. Will admit it was out of my price range at the original msrp and I only bought one on...

Re: Sal, CQI the Urban LW, please

Ironically I’d say my standard black Urban has the best f&f compared to my k390 (really shallow jimping) and aeb-l (tip sits high in the handle) examples. While the issues are generally minor, it is a bit of a bummer. Though I haven’t experienced the spinning pivot issue on my Urbans or UKPKs person...

Re: Stop throwing away Amazon boxes!

We get too many to use them all, but I do “chip” a lot of cardboard up by hand to use as a carbon amendment to our compost. Usually keep a 5 gallon bucket’s worth on hand. It’s also an excuse to do a lot of informal comparisons between all the different blades I have around here.

Re: Warm vs Cool weather carry

With the pandemic and cornteen, working from home full time, etc, I’ve basically only worn athletic shorts for the last 6 months. Urban clipped iwb most of the time.

Look forward to the cooler weather providing an excuse to carry some different stuff.

Re: Urban Chief

The UKPK has a 3” blade. It and the Urban are two of my favorite Spydies. The red g10 HH exclusive is worth snagging if you want something a bit more robust than the lw models. As far as the “beefiest” Spyderco slipjoint, I think that honor goes to the discontinued ti PITS. A slip joint Kapara has b...

To the lefties asking for a lefty Para 3: where exactly is your problem? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, just curious why it's not working for you. It's not a problem, it's preference. Please buy yourself a Para 2 left hand and only carry and use it righty for a month. Report back on your exper...
