I am amazed that the original Szabo was discontinued. It wasn't even around for a year and, bang, it's gone! Any idea why? I'm sure glad i picked up one of the originals because i am not a fan of black blades. I do like the black scales of the new Szabo, but that black blade coating is a no-no for m...

+2 Not like in previous years many new knives will be made in Japan. Probably Taiwanese maker like Golden at full capacity. Prices for everything are going up not only Japanese made knives. I was a little surprise to see that Hungarian folder has higher MSRP than Vallaton. Regarding VG10, I still l...

You mean this discontinued list? http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?61590-2014-Spyderco-Discontinued-Product-List-Official Or are you already thinking a year ahead of time? ;) I had planned on getting some work done this evening, but instead spent my time looking through the new product ...

There are a lot of nice knives in the 2014 catalog, but everything new seems to be VG-10. VG-10 has fallen out of favor with me for a while now. Prices for Japan-made knives keep going up and it's still just VG-10. Taiwan-made knives have either S30V or XHP. Now we're talkin'! This year will probabl...

Kinda expensive. I thought it would be more like $175. I was thinking the same thing. It does seem a bit high for XHP steel, but at least it's an upgrade over S30V. I'll still buy one. I am more worried about the higher prices on the Japanese knives that seem to be coming out. We aren't getting any...

I know this thread is more than a year old, but I'm thinking about a LionSpy too. (The first thing that's holding me back is that I am one of the very few knife nuts on this planet, who really hates tip-up carry, especially on bigger knives. But I'm sure a good knife-pimper/-maker like Tuffthumbz o...

i can understand getting frustrated at the situation. Heck i got frustrated too. The only thing i yelled at was my computer monitor; it gets the abuse of my frequent outbursts . :) To get angry at the Spyderco employees, however, is just silly and uncalled for. I would be willing to bet that the fol...

Where's the option for 0, I can't be the only one who missed out... this whole thing just played out like a flippers wet dream. Disappointed in the whole process really, but enjoy your knive(s) guys. You should try to call and order one. They might not enter in the entire stock on the web for phone...

Hi JD, Being made in Seki with VG-10 woun't be as friendly as if it were made in China with 8Cr13MoV. The G-10 is made in the USA, that must add some value. VG-10 processed in Japan will bring out the best in VG-10....there's value there. Our maker in Seki has been working with us for 32 years and ...
