Re: Sprint Vallotton?

Looking forward to seeing this design. Hopefully it will be tip up only, it was a real shame the bolsters got the swiss cheese treatment on the last two models.

Re: New to Spydercos, need opinions for Law Enforcment

Surprised no one has mentioned the p’kal, seems perfect for this application, although I’m not sure about carrying in a cargo pocket. It carries in top of pocket and waves out in rgei, very natural in hand and striking. Has trainer also, take care.

Re: Sprint Run Basics

I think you are seeing the native 5 g10 and the frn version, $164 for the g10 and $116 for the frn, these are different sku's, national knives has both in stock. Sprints are normally ordered by dealers once announced and spyderco allocates them from the run, seems to be pretty random on when dealers...

Re: Purchase limits on Sprints/Exlusives

Most of the good dealers do this already, place a limit 1-2 per household etc, people may find ways around it but I appreciate the dealers that try make it fair for everyone. If they are having trouble with sales of a particular item they can always remove the limit at their discretion. If you want ...

Re: Maxamet care

Your new knife should come with a small card in the box that has care instructions, they recommend a silicone based oil iirc? A member recommended the product below in another thread, if you’re going to cut any food with it just make sure any product you use is “food grade / food safe” I use MicroLu...

Re: When someone says ''Spyderco'' which of there knives comes to mind first?

It’s the delica for me as well if I had to pick one, but as others mentioned any time I see a hole in a blade I think spyderco. Also hawkbills and reverse s shaped blades particularly if fully serrated are quite iconic to me, the civilian is a hard one to forget.

Re: custom shop...

When I think of a custom shop I imagine a knife off the shelf that is further worked on to take it to the next level, rather than the build-your-own-knife from standard parts model being suggested. This would require additional time and skill from the makers but not additional parts; things such as ...

If you don't mind humoring me, I'd love to see the stonewashed finish once you get it installed on the Maxamet P3.
Yeah sure can, not sure how long its going to take to get down here though but if you can wait will check back in :)

Re: custom shop...

just as an example, what if i want a manix 2 with dlc and blurple scales with xhp steel? all of these things are produced by spyderco already, but in order for me to get this knife, i’d have to buy a manix 2 in s110v, a blacked out manix in s30v for black hardware, and i’d have to hunt down an old ...

Re: Maxamet and Patina. Should I acid wash?

Matches well, thanks for the info! I'm looking at the new wire clip replacement for the Manix in this post and trying to figure out which finish to order. Very nice, you can’t go wrong really, Casey recommended the sandwash and I have a few of them now, have a stonewash coming for a maxamet p3. I w...

Is that the stonewashed Lynch clip?
No problem, it is his ‘sandwash’ finish clip, its more of a bead blast than stonewash and makes it a bit darker.

Re: Blue Loctite and FRN

You apply a very small amount to the threads of the screw only, dab any excess off with a paper towel or cotton bud so it only remains in the valleys of the thread. The locktite should only contact between the threads of the screw and the threads of the nut/standoff; it shouldn’t be between the scre...

Re: Maxamet and Patina. Should I acid wash?

I have used hot white vinegar followed by a stonewash on my rex pm2 which worked well. If the blade already has marks on it you might get an uneven finish, ideally you’d do it when its brand new, at least make sure its clean as possible, the stonewash helps here of course. Imo you want to get the bl...
