If the lock is properly executed there should be ZERO blade play. Not up and down and not side to side. Blade play is not normal. If your blade is moving then something is not right; perhaps the angle of lockup, perhaps the lock strength. I would. Intact Spyderco. Blade play should not be there

The "toe" or front end of your lock bar should engage the tang of the blade as opposed to the "heel" of the lockbar if that makes sense.
