I have a PE millie and SE would serve my bread needs better :)
Don't see many SE millies selling online right now.
I do prefer the feel of stretch plus enough people comment on its appearance in a way that I guess they will run from the sight of M.

a good bread slicer?

I've been using my spyderedge stretch to cut crusty artisan bread.
It is a joy to use and its ffg blade chews through crust much easier than a hollow grind like pacific salt.
Now, it looks like SE stretches are discontinued.
What are my current options for Spyderco/byrd SE ffg models?
Slightly ...

I have one and I love it. I don't have it in PE or CE right now so I can't directly compare them.
I bought mine too because it was a good deal and was not sure how much I would like it.
The serrations on its thin blade looked odd at first, but it really grew on me and I honestly would not trade it ...

It wasn't the 'seconds' score on the spine of the blade and turned out to be nothing: couple passes on the SharpMaker removed it.
Don't know if 'chip' is the proper term: on the edge itself, about 1/16" long and shallow. Not a nick and a bit of a drag when cutting paper.

Also found a youtube ...

Spyderco often makes improvements without any fanfare. The older Chinook III's, like mine, have no jimping on the choil and widely spaced "stepping stone" jimping on the ramp. The newest ones have finer jimping and have it on both the thumb ramp and the choil. There may even be a third ...

Ecce (SE) Spyderco is Latin for 'Behold Spyderco'. The ancients knew the score, no doubt.

Chinook 3 with unusually usual jimping

Help me figure this one out.
I bought a used 'like new' Chinook 3 from Amazon Warehouse Deals.
I believe that's where Amazon sells items returned by customers.
The box indicates February 2009 production.
It looks pristine except a small chip on the edge.
Oddly, the jimping is same as Manix 2 or ...

Robyn's teeth are far less aggressive than Stretch, Pacific, and old Delica. Older G-2 Rescue is more like it.

Which serrated models have "shallow" scallops?

I see them on the Byrd Robin and recall reading that Wave Endura 4 had these as well.
There must be others. Interesting to see different types of teeth.

Sure there are some things that don't need a choil. And others that do.
It would allow here choke hold for greater accuracy.

Thank you for replies.
I hate to think about lock failing and blade closing on the index finger. Looks like it would work mechanically to extend the unsharpened area 1/4" further from the handle.
