I guess if it is one I already own it would be my Police SS PE. Only downside is that I can't carry it. It is too long for Colorado carry.

My SS Harpy SE was VG-10 from Seki City. It was $59 at the Army Navy store. I really like the VG-10 steel. All of the Spydies at the Army Navy store are VG-10. I don't know anything about ATS-55.

I usually carry a Delica or Centofante III. I would like to carry a Police but the length is above 3.5" and makes it a weapon in Colorado and ban in Denver. It would have to be carried open and subject to LEO harassment.

It also would raise less trouble at work.

I would love to have a couple of those knivies. I just received 2 Shun Ken Onion Damast VG-10 Japan knivies for Christmas. I think they were about $200 each. They were like a 10in Chef knife and and an 8in Santuko.

The reality for me is I just have a good sized stock of 'consumables' I keep in rotation.

Tinned food, bottled water (the tapwater here tastes awful) and ammo all realistically have a limited shelf-life of just a few years (I keep these turning over regularly). Apart from my fishing/light camping ...

NYC...is a 4" blade lenght restriction...basically must be concealed...folders not clipped to the pocket...Long Island has no blade lenght restrictions...without re-printing the laws from the penal code which you could look up yourself...that's it in a nutshell....Doc :D

Thanks, That's actually ...

I totally disagree. Most cops I know are the same way, and understand. For the ones that don't understand I don't care.

I mean heck, what's next........they think that my flares are a possible terrorist weapon?

It was meant to be tongue and cheek humor. It doesn't work so well on a blog. Yep ...

I tend to not bother going to the knife displays at outdoors shops. I see very few Spyders and too many of other brands. I live in Colorado! Come on! Home of Spyderco. Many folks have not heard of Spyderco!

I've noticed that too. Bass Pro Shop dropped Spyderco and Dick's refuses to carry ...

I guess you need to be a little careful what you carry in your car for an emergency kit. Duct tape, fixed blade knife, rope, etc may sound like a kidnapping kit.

I have some synthetic oil made for knives that I use for the moving parts once every two months. Otherwise I just use a cotton rag and water/soap. Making sure it is very dry at the end. If is a Case XX Chrome Vanadium blade I use olive oil and leave a very light film. I use olive oil if it is a ...

What are the knife laws in NYC ? I was in DC area in October and after looking all over I found the best I could at KnifeLawsOnline.com. They have DC but not NYC. While I was in DC I carried my Delica without incident. I have friends that work in DC and carry about 3-3.5 daily without problems, even ...

I was under the impression that the President just signed a knife law that declared all assisted open, one handers like spydies, and balisongs (not sure ifn this counts) as non-gravity or switchblades. Maybe it wasn't a pre-emption law.

While it's important to follow orders, it must be realized that SEALs aren't police. They don't run around reading terrorists miranda rights. They're trained to kill enemy combatants.

Utilizing them as cops is a major mis-management of our military.

This is always a problem when we act as an ...
