It seems to me that the root of all these problems is the deep intertwining of the American government and its ruling multinationals and conglomerates. Even as we speak, right this very minute, the congressional "supercommittee" is operating in total secrecy, with doors closed to everyone — except ...

Let me tell a story that hopefully illustrates my take on all this:

I bought my first Spyderco about the summer of 2009. A Barong, made in Japan. To that point, my collection was pretty much limited to SAK and Case folders. So the $160 Barong, being a Spyderco and an unusual one at that, was ...

Fortunately, I was standing at the sink with cutlets and breadcrumbs in a plastic bag.

Seriously though, t was my first quake, too. Two shocks, about a foot of lateral movement. It tipped over the coat rack in the hall. Doesn't appear to be much in the way of property damage, and I've heard no ...

Just pre-ordered, wondering how close we are, mostly to sense if there's any chance I'll get one. I'm a sucker for carbon, hope I slid in there.

I appreciate the one and only Axis Lock blade I own. It's a neat mechanism, though not so clever as the compression lock.

Mine (D2 Griptilian) has a weak detente as well. It tended to pop open when dropped or moved sharply in a certain way, given pivot adjustment for deployment/flicking/etc. I ...

Any of those things would help, a combination of all of them would help more.

Right on the money. I would point out, however, that all those things cost public money.

As for the woodcarver, my outrage reservoir ran dry years ago. Police and politicians are similar in just one respect - anyone ...

It's the end of my second year, too. I spent about the same as last year, but ended up with fewer blades. Diversified a bit, too.

Orange Military
Meerkat sprint
Circa '78 Buck 110
Swamp Rat Waki
Swamp Rat RMD
Swamp Rat Warden
Two custom leather sheaths

That's all, and none since June or so, used ...

why is it so consistently impossible for anyone to make a decent zombie movie/show?

I know this might seems counter-intuitive, given all the hype about that "new zombie show."

But it might help to think of it as less a zombie story and more a grinding, dystopian, essentially hopeless indictment ...

The same thing happened to my pinned Salt 1 after I wore it into the surf several times this summer. I just rinsed it out after each dunking. The gritty grinding disappeared with normal use after a couple of weeks, with no visible damage or scratching.

Not sure if mine was a mild case, or I just ...

I'm a huge "Walking Dead" fan, it's perhaps the most grueling, horrifying and depressing comics I've ever read. It's an interesting twist on the genre, casting the humans as the real monsters in a zombie epic, and it's so well done you get about six issues into it before you understand the title ...

Not exclusively, but definitely predominately.

For locking folders, I have two Kershaws, two Benchmades and seven Spydies.

For slipits, I've got a 25-year-old SAK and a few CV Case folders.

For fixed blades, I've got a few Swamp Rats, one small, two not so small.

With the exception of the ...
