^ This. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a linerless/SALT Stretch 2 in MC. My pipedream/wish is for a re-release of the Catcherman in LC200N or MC.

Re: Serrated Sprint Runs Wanted? Let's Get Serious
Yep -- I had & sold my USN Catcherman many moons ago when I was in a "cleaning house" stage of my collecting -- I now regret many that I let go. I'd be happy to jump on any iteration of a Catcherman that might get released.

Re: Best Blade Steel
Right now I'm really liking Z-Wear/CruWear as my do-it-all steel. I expect the much anticipated MagnaCut to perform like a stainless version of these. I'm also fond of CPM-M4 & H-1, and I'm likely to add at least one K390 to my stable. That said, the vast majority of my non-Spydercos sport blade...

Re: Show Your Patina!
Thanks, Jeff! I've handled two different K390 Stretch 2s -- both seemed to have rougher liners than, for example, my ZCarta Shaman. I've had fairly significant liner rust develop on an older Endela, but none on my Shaman. Both currently get about the same use/care, but I've had the Endela a good dea...

Re: Show Your Patina!
@Manixguy@1994 --- Dan, how are your liners? I have been on the fence as to getting a K390 Stretch 2. While the blade & ergos are great, the rather roughly-finished liners I have seen present a corrosion point (esp. under them) that has thus far kept me from pulling the trigger. To be honest th...

YMMV -- the Stretch 2 has my favorite grip. I can hardly wait for a linerless SALT Stretch 2.

+90% of the time a SAK Soldier (or Electrician) or other 3" or so slip-joint is my EDC. I usually only carry a Spyderco on weekends.

You can also use BC "Synthetic Safe" Gun Scrubber -- which is predominantly canned/pressurized alcohol -- to blast out the gunk. I've used it on a lot of pistol frames, knives, etc. over the years. Here's the MSDS: https://www.birchwoodcasey.com/content/datasheets/Gun%20Scrubber%20Aerosol....

Re: Stretch XL Observations
I hate to report that mine came with a lock very proud of the scales and gaps on both sides of the lock wide enough to see light through most of the way down. I do hope and expect that the QC on future iterations will be tightened up a bit.

Re: Stretch XL Observations
I'd have to apply calipers to be sure -- like you, I also have a soft spot for the Stretch (1). I also prefer the original blade shape. I am very much looking forward to (someday) a linerless Stretch* in MagnaCut.

Re: Stretch XL Observations
I am a bit torn between the utility of having a longer blade, but the slightly greater comfort/fit (for me) of the regular-sized grip. Then again, I also like my Shaman's grip -- both it and the "taller" Stretch 2 grip fill my hand better. That said, it's only when I handle them side-by-si...

Re: Stretch XL Observations
Does someone have the ability to post a picture of an XL next to the regular SS stretch? Thanks in advance! Here's my new XL compared to my SSS -- and 1 bonus photo with the XL next to my Pacific Salt. In addition to the handle being just a bit longer on the XL, I noticed that it was thinner at the...

Re: Which model has impacted your preferences the most?
Over all, I think the most influential shape for me has been the Native -- esp. the early 2000s OEF Native I briefly had. *Still looking for a replacement* (USMC 95-2004). I am also strongly drawn to the Stretch/Stretch 2 . I'll have to get a Stretch XL in my hands to decide on it, but I honestly th...

Re: Colors
I was NOT a fan of the "mint green" scales on the CMP-M4 Native V I just got in from BladeHQ, so while its blade was taking a bath to darken up, the scales were given the dark green RIT dye treatment. Here's the result -- I'm looking forward to it lightening up just a bit. Perhaps I'll lea...

Not the best photo, but here's a variety -- some easy to darken; others very difficult. --1095 --Z-wear PM --CPM-M4 --D2 patina study.jpg Solo shots of the Z-carta Shaman... As most know, Z-wear PM is far more difficult to force a patina than these others. shaman_patina3.jpg shaman_patina4.jpg and o...
