If you're going to cut thick plastic cable ties I would suggest something without too fine of a tip, or use small cable snips for those, I find it really easy to accidentally twist the blade when under one of those. Look at the type of steel and blade geometry, like the Perrin PPT, Superleaf or anyt...

Got the Salt Dragonfly (which get carried most days in my bag, its my big knife ;) ) and the ZDP-189 Dragonfly, and my wife carries a regular Dragonfly 2 every day.

Awesome, awesome little blades, especially after gaining a wire clip!

Same in other countries, a friend of mine in northern Europe had a small (sub 2" blade) fixed knife he was going to use for fishing trips confiscated and a $1500 fine because the sheath had a hole on the bottom and came with a neck chain. The way anti-knife countries handle their customs is jus...

LOL Really :D I still want my change back, "I'm broke" Now that I can totally get behind ;) Sorry, sticking up for one scumbag over another just fires me up sometimes, most politicians are awful (imo) once they get beyond a certain level in the hierarchy, they have to be to get enough vot...

"I want my change back" I am completely impartial between the major two US political factions, but I feel obliged to point out that the Department of Homeland Security was created while George W. Bush was in office, along with laws that allows DHS to breach the privacy of anyone they can ...

Always nice when a government is encouraging people to snoop on their fellow citizen's activities, it somehow sounds familiar..hmmm.. Oh right! Eastern Germany had this little trick going on a lot! The STASI had an impressive civilian informant network to smoke out political/class dissidents so they...

As someone brought up, MSRP psychology is a big deal, I'm pretty certain Spyderco doesn't practice this. In Europe a while back there were several brands of watches (you never heard of them, but they sounded swiss and expensive), you go to their website and you see an MSRP of $3000 for a watch and t...

Again, please do not mistake this for legal advice, It is my opinion that: I would still say the "by "otherwise" legislature referred to knives that were opened by some sort of mechanism which is not a "switch," "push-button," or "spring" mechanism but s...

Isn't it illegal to force a retailer to sell your product at certain price ranges?

Also I believe Spyderco sets a rather high MSRP so they are not competing in online sales with their retailers.

TuffGlide or Mineral Oil are my two favorites.

WD-40 doesn't work well as lube in my experience, it breaks up dirt and displaces other liquids though so works great for cleaning pivots before lubing with something else.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer and could be completely off base, this is just my personal opinion. As I understand it, PA knife law lets you carry any length knife, fixed or folder, except an auto. This quote that I found seems to indicate that assisted opening knives might be prohibited, I wouldn't t...

I wouldn't worry about transferring the coating to my food, but I would think that an uncoated blade would be smoother and therefore easier to cut with (at least with raw ingredients, I doubt it matters much on cooked stuff.) Any DLC or paint coated knife I have has a rougher finish than my satin bl...

What purpose do you want to carry this knife for? P'kal is a pure self defense knife, I'm not sure it would be so great for most EDC chores, but since I don't have one, I might be wrong. I don't own the Chokwe either, it looks nice, but the tip seems like it would be quite fragile though. The PPT is...

Looks like the G10 will patina nicely along with the blade ;)

Think of it this way, no-one will want to relieve you of your grimy old knife, while to you its the pinnacle of cutting perfection :)
