Topic: Why do people like tip down carry?

Tip-up is SLOWER. It is. Spyderdrop or no Spyderdrop. It's also more difficult to get the knife out of the pocket. Also, tip-DOWN is LESS SAFE. How can a knife carried tip-up open up if it's against the seam of the pocket? It can't. On the other hand, a knife carried tip-DOWN has the blade's path po...

I'm not sure that would be useful info. Once that lockbar or the lock area of the blade tang is deformed, the ghost is given up. Jim Is it failing because the bar/tang is deformed? I don't know. I doubt that being loose has anything to do with it failing, but I don't know because I haven't taken it...

LOL ****, those looked like kidneys or hearts or something :o

I get scared to cut food with my pocket knives unless there's somewhere close by where I can rinse it off. Also, if I've cut anything else before, I usually don't use my pocket knives on food. I should have a dedicated utensil folder.

I've never owned the Chokwe, but I'm still going to give it the nod. I got rid of my Military because it was just too big. Maybe you like that, but I thought the handle was unnecessarily large. There was a huge amount of handle sticking out of my closed hand when gripping the knife, both toward the ...

I admit I'm a big fan of the Stainless models. They can be a bit high maintenance for EDC compared to the FRN and G10. I've found myself collecting the stainless models (I want them all ;) ) and end up carrying the G10 or FRN models. Hey, me too! I really like stainless handles; they make a knife s...

The thing that sold me on Spyderco knives is that they're functional. That functionality makes me carry these knives, as they help me in my intended uses. Deer aging, cutting rope, cleaning fish, ect. Anything I do outdoors I do with a Spyderco these days. If you have to clear trails from heavy gro...

Look for the DMT Diasharp series. Those plates have continuous surfaces (not perforated.) Get a DMT XC, and that should have you set for an edge repairing stone.

Why a large folder? I think it would be good to have that option. Spyderco already makes a large amount of ~3" folders of similar design, and I think they would be adding something "new" to make a larger-sized folder.
