Question: Was there ever an Endura (1st Gen) made for Smith&Wesson Academy?

I came across such an Endura and I'd like to know whether this is customized by the former owner or if this one was made by Spyderco. Thanks for your input in advance!

I think, and this in my opinion, a big, heavy folder gives an illusion of a tough knife.
You got a valid point there, but in most cases this illusion isn't put to the test. You also trade in this 'toughness' aspect for a lot of additional weight in folding knife. If I want a tough blade, I ...

Digging up the cor..err....threads!^^ Just to give you an update: The BG-42 Mili has been one my favorite EDCs for the last two years. The steel and heattreatment are just amazing, the edge gets 'scary sharp' very easily and since I began to use this Mili I didn't look back. I've seen these models ...

Thanks for the info, it would be great if there's never been a change, but I'm a little confused about the whole issue: there are Grasshoppers with the steel stamped on the blade and blades with nothing on them whatsoever.

Steel in Spyderco Grasshopper - when and why did it change?

A few days ago I changed the knife on my keychain from HoneyBee to the Grasshopper and took a look at the data from Spyderco. To my surprise the steel for the Grasshopper is now 8Cr13MoV (which I love btw), but the old ones are not labelled and have a different steel (3Cr13). If anyone could give me ...

I couldn't agree more. I bought a CPM-D2 Mili first and loved it, but after I got the BG-42 version, it has been the favorite knife for me. It was tough to break it in as mine was also NIB but what worth has a knife that can't show its strength and sharpness? The BG-42 is soo good in this knife, all ...

I for one would love to see a Sandvik steel in more just one model. Some Sandvik is going to China for the Bug model, but it would be great in a bigger knife model. Sandvik steels are real cutters, though they lack a lil bit of edge retention compared to S30V.

Take care,

That's a nice little clan you got there! I'm still not absolutely sure, if I should make a user. But as all my other knives are users, I think that I don't have a choice. So thanks guys for your kind comments, this knife is truly amazing.

Finally a Military in BG-42!!

This knife has haunted me for months, especially since I bought my CPM-D2 Military . But it has been really difficult to find one for a reasonable price. At the beginning of this week, I finally found a NIB Military in BG-42 for around 200 bucks...I had to take it.
So I got it today and I gotta tell ...

I'd put in my luggage the knife I want. I tell you why: First, Bavaria is one of the states (maybe the only one so far) in Germany where authorities have specified what they consider to be a 'legal reason'. In short, everything but self-defence is ok. Secondly, wearing a non-locking OHO or a locking ...

Even if it would be amazingly popular...where do you want to put these different blade shapes? There's hardly enough space for the shape it has now. Isn't it a kind of Wharcom anyway? Don't get me wrong I love my Keycom, it's a great little knife but imho there's not much room for significant changes.

I wonder why no one posted an answer here... :) 1095CV is an excellent steel for tougher jobs in the field like batoning as it is pretty strong. The only 'problem' might be that it will rust when it gets into contact with moisture. I assume you're looking at a Ka-Bar with that steel...

I'm wondering if it could suffer some damages in time (screws coming out maybe) and also what reasons could have been behind this

Maybe rust? While reading this thread I had to take a closer look on my D2 Mili and the backspacer does have these two standoffs which have developed a little bit of ...

Since the day I got the knife virus, I tried to learn as much as I could and what my brain would allow me to about steels and all that. Just sharpened my Tenacious today and it still amazes how easy that is. I love my Tenacious just the way it is, for me it needs no upgrade in steel. The scales might need some variation, but there's help http://shop.cuscadi.de/
