Re: Think it’s time for another discontinued re-do!

Half a year on, I've started to chase down a lot of my grails - and as many Slipits/slipjoints along the way, as I could.

I now possess a Kiwi 3 and it has me puzzled. It's so simple and it was sold so cheap, but it's very, very hard to find on the secondary market, probably because a lot of them ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Technically no longer in the mail, these arrived last weekend. They're part of my crazy 2025 splurge, in which I kick-started a Spyderco collection that will still be trickling in all throughout 2026.

Now that I have a Spy-DK, here is a straight forward comparison shot of the knife in question:

Re: That Metropolitan is mine !

Very nice review!

When the new member of the Spyderco Caly-adjacent Slipit family debuted last year, I knew I had to have one. I finally bought it late November, but I didn't pay as much attention to it as it deserved, as it arrived at the same time as my HH S30V UKPK. Which I immediately EDCed for ...

Re: Who else is hyped for the Retract ?!

I am very excited for the Retract indeed. I'm in a weird spot in Germany, the majority of Spydercos aren't street legal and for the typical light work around my small village property (speak: "garden"), I use a Resilience or even one of the (thankfully few) clones I've inadvertedly picked up while ...

If there is interest in a Native 5 Sprint, but with the "Dagger" style hollow grind blade, that would be more possible than re-creating the original.
+1 for interest in this idea, absolutely.

I had an idea for a Europe-focused friction folder a few years ago, but the the knife laws--especially in Germany--deteriorated faster than its potential.

I am unaware of any German knife laws that have become more restrictive than the either/or rule about one handed opening / locking knives ...

Urban - alternate handle?

Hi,

I recently bought a 2nd hand vanilla Urban C127PBK off eBay, NIB. When it arrived, the handle was all off. Here is a picture in the middle of most of my slipits. (Please excuse the bad lighting, giving the blades all sorts of weird coloration.)

Re: Need some input

As per Sal's requests, I asked my wife (non-knife person) and she suggested turquoise and either orange or red.

That's inadvertedly in the vicinity of this prior suggestion:

Another way to go is with what color theory calls "complementary" color. These are colors that are 180 degrees opposed on ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

So, Black Week. Over here in Europe / Germany, the vendors seemed not to focus on Spyderco very much. But then I idly clicked through the Spydercos of a smaller one and realized they'd also matched the low price of ca 115€ for the Chaparral LW PE that the bigger wholesaler of my choice has aopted ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

It was a pretty sweet deal. I've never owned a Sharpmaker and this one came in for under $50. It arrived yesterday and I've already used it to get very sharp edges on a couple of different knives despite neglecting to read the manual at first (in my defense, I did watch Sal's instructional video ...

Some of the designs like Ed Schempp's very beautiful Kris or Barong , I don't think the current maker would be able to fit it in very easily. Taking it to a different maker, makes it a new knife, not a Sprint remake. etc. etc. We do listen and within our capabilities, we try to serve.

Very ...

Hi Jymset,

As far as Sprints go, this is a good list. We appreciate knowing in what you may be interested. This is far more complicated than it might appear. We try to bring out regular sprints of older designs, if possible?

Depending on the price, I'd be in for a new release of the Rookie, C95 Manix, Schempp Barong, Reverse, Province, Centofante 4 wharncliffe, or Worker, among others.
Joined these forums simply to raise another voice for the Barong. It'd be a dream to get a modern sprint run of that knife.
