Re: Forum Maintenance & Moving

Server moves are always exciting! I have a love/hate relationship with them. I hate doing them but usually love the results.

Any hopes of TapaTalk support in the future?

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Another K390 SE Endela. I bought 1 and loved it so much I picked up another for fear of it being discontinued.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

After reading through this thread as well as the other sharpening threads, I am a little confused on what people are finding as the best way to maintain serrated edges on the SharpMaker. Here are the options I believe people have settled on: 1. Re-profile and maintain at 15 dps 2. Re-profile and mai...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Those are nice, I like that texture/pattern. +1 Very nice indeed! Thanks. I can't take credit. The guy over at g10.it does an amazing job with micarta. Don't know if they cut scales themselves or outsource them, but I have no regrets. I'll be ordering from them again. I love the FRN pattern on the ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Whoa those scales are sweet. Where could I snag a pair for my Endura? I ordered these from suingab over at g10.it. Great service, really quick. I love the texture. I am glad that these are as grippy as the stock FRN. I sanded down the finger bumps and replaced the stock black clip with a stock silv...

Re: k390 serrated discontinued?

I am too saddened. I just picked up another Endela SE K390 and have spent my monthly blade budget. I hope some Delicas and Police models are still around at the end of next month.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Sharpening a Spyderedge on the Sharpmaker will gradually round the points. What I have observed after reprofiling a bunch of SE knives to 15 degrees is that the degree of rounding is highly dependent upon the type of steel. My H-1, LC200N, and VG-10 blades rounded much more on their journey to 15 d...

Re: Upping the price.

I am currently hating all of the price related increases across nearly every industry. The price of doing business has gone up, the price of raw materials has gone up, the price of labor is going up. The problem is that costs are increasing faster than incomes. We complain about knife prices because...

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

I’m not in either camp. One knife for life, in view of the decades Spyderco has offered delicious varieties of models, is just cutting off my nose to spite my face. And to soften any compulsion I might have to cycle my 100+ unique Spydie models one day to the next, I let my unbidden curiosity lead ...

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?

I was torn on what I prefer so I did an experiment when I saw this poll. I lined up a handful of models with different handles on the bench open and ready to use. I grabbed a bunch of boxes and started making cuts. The goal was to determine how I instinctively grab and hold a knife. Grab a knife, ma...

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

JayHenMac, You're not alone! Think of the Forum as a multi-step help program, (but no one ever reaches their goals, whatever they may be, and no one graduates :winking-tongue.) We're are here for you! Anyway, enough of the pep talk. I'll do the same as you, then I'll even switch later in the day as...

Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

I can't imagine what it must be like for some of you folks who have knife collections with numbers in the hundreds. I have a handful of Spydercos, SAKs, GECs, Leatherman (What's the plural, Leathermen? Leathermans?), and some other traditional slip joint makers. Every day I throw a multitool in my b...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

Nice choices! The Endela SE is the best SE knife I personally own. Also had a Para 3 LW in SE - the model itself is not so much for me, but the serrations were pretty good! Now concerning the Sage 5: The fact that now they are bringing out a Chaparral in SE could make teeth also for the Sage a bit ...

Re: I don't care about stainless *Edited

Have you tried any oil to protect it? Some peoples environments are more corrosive and more difficult to prevent rust in. I try to keep my tool steel knives oiled like I do my guns. Except the knives get mineral oils while the guns get Eezox. I don't like an "oily" knife or gun so its usu...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

I just cut a kid's shoe off of his foot. My son and his friend were riding bikes when the kid's shoelaces got caught in the bike pedal. Each turn of the pedal tightened the laces. Happened too quickly to stop the situation before it was too late. The laces were so tangled and tight that the only opt...
