Re: How do I stop rusting on my carbon steels?

I think for most of people who work a “blue collar” outdoors job like myself require a highly stainless steel knife.
A Carbon steel blade will corrode even with the finest oils just by being in your pocket, because in this part of the world humidity is currently very high and even the slightest ...

I like it but it’s biggest problem for me is The FRN Chaparral exists.

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?

As much as I’d like to be one of the cool kids and say K390, Rex 45 or 15V, It’s Magnacut for me. I’ve been using it very frequently for over a year now and it’s been an outstanding low maintenance steel.

If we could be get a Chaparral in it that’d be great. 👍

Re: Is the Wharncliffe a good blade for a first serrated edge?

I’m sorry to go off-topic slightly, but I love the Kiwi, it is such a cool yet supremely functional looking knife. Very much a knife in Spyderco’s philosophy.

If Spyderco admin are listening can we bring these back into production please?

A small suggestion; side step some of the ugly, super ...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

I cannot find a supplier of the Magnacut N5 anywhere in the U.K. or even my usual sources in Europe.

Have Spyderco stopped making them? Surely someone here must know?

Re: Native 5 lw in 15v?

Still on the fence with one of these.
Not cancelled my order yet. The thing is Magnacut Native 5’s are nowhere to be found in the U.K and I’ve not tried 15v yet. I want to see what all the fuss is about and plan to keep my PM2 15V firmly in its box.

My preference was originally the G10 15v native ...

Re: Golden Age of Supersteels Over???

I never particularly wanted to be aboard the Magnacut hype train, but after using it for the last year as my go to EDC in the form of my UKPK salt. I’m very happy with its performance, to the point it has me wanting it on other models and questioning whether I really need much more performance in ...

Re: Cruwear Temperance Sprint Run. Is a Home Run IMO!!!

I found this old X-Ray picture of the hidden tangs of a Mora Clipper and Temperance. So when you baton firewood, resist the temptation to go "full retard"...

That’s a surprisingly small tang-to-blade ratio!
Stick and partial tangs are good but to ...

Re: Native 5 lw in 15v?

I dont have a G10 Native 5, but I’ve handled a few at the SFO and we do have a Native 5 Salt LW I picked up for the wife. The G10 model does feel nicer than the LW, but with the back lock, of course it will be a different experience than a compression lock, even with it being smoother.

I’m ...

Re: Native 5 lw in 15v?

Its been a difficult decision but I figure I may as well cancel my order for this and get a Native 5 Salt instead:

1. My 15v Native has on order since February with an April delivery date, yet still nothing confirmed in sight.
2. The weather here and the work I do means the knife is either going to ...

Re: Another thread for discussing a Chaparral XL - now that it came one step closer to becoming a reality

G-10 would be fantastic. FRN would be alright too, but mainly G-10.
I’m done paying through the nose for fancy scale materials now. :smlling-eyes

I’d like to talk about the steel now please. Mainly Magnacut, but could it not have CTS-XHP if that’s ok? It’s alright but been done to death on the ...

Re: MBS26 in the dishwasher? / SE 7Cr17MoV is great!

We used our yellow, blunt-tipped Z-cut in our kitchen for everything pretty much every day. It was brilliant… right up until it snapped across the Spydie hole cutting cheese.

Spyderco, I know it’s a trademark of yours, but could you please leave out the Spydie hole when it is not needed.

That ...

Re: That Metropolitan is mine !

I don’t understand why they’d make it in M398 and then immediately talk about making it in the old Maniago favourite: N690 before the model is even released. I have no experience with the steel but surely M398 wasn’t so bad that we have to take a backwards step?

It's chock full of large ...

I can’t see anything wrong with talking about knives and their price points, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
