Re: Origin of the STEEL in USA Made Spyderco's. Hope Sal reads.
Even a lot of foreign steel companies’ steel is made by CPM. For example, German company Zapp’s Z-wear that was used in the Z-Wear Shaman was made by CPM and rolled by Niagra, exactly the same as CPM-Cruwear. It is an identical steel with a different stamp. Some others are actually made overseas lik ...

Re: Best place to sell some Spyderco’s online
Is there drama in the Reddit It depends. If you offer your knives for less than market value, then you'll fit right in. If you offer your knives for what they're selling for elsewhere, they'll swarm on you and peck at your flesh like starving vultures... envious, bitter, starving vultures. I've ...

Re: Best place to sell some Spyderco’s online
Honestly, eBay isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I sell a ton on there (some knives, but mostly vintage, antiques, and collectibles) and haven't had any issues with scams or fraud for years. You can typically get more than enough of a premium on eBay over knifeswap or BF to more than make ...

Re: St. Nick's Manix 2XL
Worth $250? I have one and definitely not worth $250. Someone is gouging you. Some people buy as many of the Sprints/Exclusives as possible, wait until they sell out, and then scalp/flip them for a profit. I refuse to give these people money and I have never had trouble getting every special run I ...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
I am a diehard Spyderco lover. My favorite knife company by far, even over most custom makers. Literally my only gripe is that they don’t sell hardware/parts separately. Their customer services is great and they will take care of you if you can prove you need a price, but you can’t just buy one wit ...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
I like most things Spyderco. The only gripe I have is color scheme. IMHo they have painted themselves into a corner with color schemes tied to a particular steel. I feel this doesn’t allow for much variety. If you like K390 and dont like the blue then you are SOL. I like the green for the salt line ...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
These are some things I wish they'd change about their lineup. These are all minor complaints. Really only the first 2 would stop me from buying a knife. Lack of chamfering on the inside of the G10 on knives with captured liners. The edges are sharp and dig into my hands. This is the worst on ...

Re: *Spydie Summer Sale 2023*
I missed out on Smock for $140 before they sold out. Probably for the best anyway though since I’m holding out for a non-s30v one at the right price on the secondary market

Re: Machining marks on BNIB 15v Shaman?
Can this be considered a flaw? To expect a stonewashed blade to be free of tooling marks seems rather unreasonable, it's very nature is to be full of them and the tumbling process itself adds an almost infinite number of marks. These machined tooling marks are difficult to even see without having ...

Re: Spyderco 2023 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
Since the Manix LW Salt wasn’t in the Reveal 13, is it safe to assume it won’t be any time really soon? i know you didn't ask me, but the answer is yes. it is safe to assume we won't see it anytime soon. the only thing we've heard is that it exists and that it was being carried at one point by sal o ...

Re: Machining marks on BNIB 15v Shaman?
It is a machined blade. This was done by grinding with subsequent stone-wash of some sorts. The steel is very hard and abrasion resistant and thus it is (a) not finely polished before the stone-wash and (b) the stone wash cannot cover the grinding marks completely. The same is true for the Maxamet ...

Re: Machining marks on BNIB 15v Shaman?
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I’m not bent out of shape about it because I plan on using it anyway and I also doubt cosmetic stuff would be covered under warranty for a knife they can’t easily replace parts on, but it is strange. I’ve just never seen grind marks like that on a N ...

if i didn't already have 15v, 204p, and m390, i'd be all over this. i love the manix! when i saw bright green g10, i'm not gonna lie, i was really hoping it was a surprise manix salt we hadn't heard about yet. Wow you’re not kidding considering m390, 204p, and 20cv are all different names for the s ...

Words stamped into OEM clip on Z-Wear Shaman?
It’s in the crease below the lanyard hole. Anyone know what this says? My camera on my phone sucks (still rocking an iPhone 6s lol), but I’m almost certain they are letters. At first I thought just machining marks or stress marks from bending, but I’m pretty certain they’re letters. I don’t think my ...
