What could match the Sage 1 in Maxamet? Maybe a Sage 2 in Magnacut?

Sage 2 was my first higher end production knife purchase 8 years ago. To this day, perhaps the best "classy" EDC under $300. I haven't been tempted to dip again into the Sage form factor, but considering its the Chris Reeve ...

My "sweet spot" for EDC is 2.95"-3.25" blade length, and I pondered the LeafJumper as my first K390 blade for weeks. What ultimately cast my decision for the larger Stretch 2 is two distinctions:
The Stretch 2 has jimping on the thumb ramp (as well as of course, the 50/50 choil), which in the Sage ...

Not so obscure, but as:
the Sage 2, recommended to me as the best EDC knife a decade ago, was Spyderco's homage to the Chris Reeve Knives' Sebenza,
Chris Reeve Knives introduced MagnaCut into their line in early 2022,
the Sage 1 was updated to both lightweight/FRN and Maxamet models,
Quiet Carry ...

Things mentioned above that I understand:

Sage 2.

Thinner stock (3mm) leaf blade. 50/50 choil and Sal ergos. Minimal (blade, scales, 2 standoffs, 2 washers, 1 pocket clip, 6 screws). Excellent materials and execution. Widely regarded as the best Spyderco EDC knife for years.

From these, steels in the happy middle ground between requiring more frequent stropping ...

And making a true "Salt" Shaman takes a lot more than "just" giving the current Shaman an MC blade..


Look at the current lineup of "lightweight" models. As with the Native 5 LW, only the screws and clip must be changed to make a Salt version.
