I'm hoping the aftermarket will make a new stone holder for this unit to utilize Edge Pro format stones, if so I may purchase one of these. Looks like a nice package overall but far from being a "game changer".

Re: Thin Edge Preservation
Has anyone here done a regrind on a slow-speed or cooled belt grinder, rather than on stones? Isn't that how pro re-grinders and/or knife makers do it? Yes, knife makers will use a belt sander when regrinding a knife. Most of the time they will remove the blade completely on a folding pocket knife ...

Re: Thin Edge Preservation
Attempting to thin many of these super steels we have nowadays can be quite the chore. I've a big fan on having a high performance knife, so most factory grinds are too thick behind the edge IMO, let alone after multiple sharpening sessions. I know there are few people out there that do quality ...

Re: The Ignorance of Steel
Recently I also became a fan of coarse edges. I still run polished edges on some of my knives, but I used to sharpen every knife I owned up to the highest possible grit. The introduction of these super high vanadium content super steels is what led me to experimenting with coarse edge finishes. I ...

Nice work in that Millie. My 52100 is my favorite. The 204P exclusive is well liked. Enjoy that new edge. I'm still upset with myself for not picking one of those up a couple years ago when they were priced under $200. Since I'm a big sharpening nut, I'd love to have a big 52100 blade to play with.

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
If you are worried about corrosion, I'd look into a spray coating to protect the blade. A good rust inhibiting spray will work much better than a stonewash etc. Which spray you use will depend on if you need it to be food safe or not. Your best bet for food safe protection would be Frog Lube. I use ...

Re: Sharpening methods and burr formation
Ok, there are way better people here to answer thus question, but here’s my understanding as a relative newbie to sharpening: If you want to form a burr, I think the best thing is to sharpen a single side of the knife until you form a nice even burr along the whole edge, then remove it from her o ...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
So would you say all 3 are pretty close in max edge retention, but they all lose their sharpness in a unique different way?
If so that is fascinating stuff! And impressive that both K390 and 15V can keep pace with Maxamet in edge retention.

Re: I just bought an FRN Police 4 in K390…
I've been on the fence about buying either a Police or Endura in K390. I love my Rex45 Millie and don't find it too large to carry. Please post your impressions once you get some play time in with it! I have a PM2 in K390, but I want to add some Seki City K390 to my stable. Do you have experience ...

I'm Tellin you guys, you owe it to yourself to invest in the Gauntlet with CBN Rods. You might never touch the sharpmaker again, I own both and it totally replaced the sharpmaker. Maybe I need to start a thread called Spyderco Gauntlet no I won't shut up!!! What do you like so much better with the ...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
Have not read the whole thread. Has anyone done a 3 or 4 sharpenings yet to see if there is a performance gain in eliminating “burnt” steel like some other steels? I have. I did my cut testing on edge number 2 with 325 cuts at a 13 degree microbevel on a 1k super vit diamond stone. I tested edge num ...

All knives where sharpened with the WSPA and stopped with 1 micron diamond on leather. Not the best framing but you'll get the idea. Mule M398 https://youtu.be/7hfNHP9wo9Y Maxamet Manix 2 https://youtube.com/shorts/LhqXNIarNLg?feature=share XHP Chaparral https://youtube.com/shorts/kxwSlM4GG9s ...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
Last night I sharpened my Military in Rex45, and my 15V Manix 2. To my surprise the Rex45 felt more "difficult" on the stones, the 15V was noticeably easier to remove steel on. The more experience I have with this 15V the more I fall in love with it.

Re: Good sharpener for Magnacut
No doubt the TSPROF is a much better system compared to the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite, but it should be since its nearly 4 times the cost. TSPROF, Hapstone, KME, and Edge Pro all make excellent systems. With that being said, I think the standard kit Work Sharp Precision Adjust at $60 may be ...

Probably K390, but have yet to try Magnacut. If it's as good as many claim it to be, it could surpass K390 as my favorite blade steel.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I currently have a set of the the full size Venev resin bonded stones, which I really enjoy using. They are my go-to diamond stone when I'm working on anything "nice". I also have DMT and Ultrasharp plates, but they serve as my "beater" diamond stones. TripleB's super vitrified stones would replace ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Quick refresh to the edge on my most carried knife for the past couple months. Just a few swipes on a 1000 grit super vitrified diamond stone and a few more swipes on a strop loaded with 1 micron diamond. That's been my edge maintenance routine for this knife. Today I dressed the diamond stone (I ...
