Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I ended up chatting on the phone with the Mr. Knife Guy guy (Brett). He hadn't ordered Ayoobs specifically but as a premier dealer he received, wait for it, 3 serrated and 3 plain edge Ayoobs. I guess he had over 12 orders overnight and has been on the phone all day sorting out orders. I talked to ...

Re: Canada's knife laws just cost me almost $400.

it is crazy to think that BHQ does not know about the bad practices of the CBSA in regards to knives entering the country. As one of North Americas largest dealers, they should know and should have an automatic notice to Canadian customer about the potential of losing the knife and their money. Or ...

Re: Canada's knife laws just cost me almost $400.

My message said that I was new to having a blade seized at the border, and I wanted to know if a) there was a chance customs would send it back to the shipper, b) if there was a chance customs would eventually decide it wasn't illegal and I could have it, c) if the knife would be held indefinitely ...

Re: Release date for next mule team blade

is the forum the best place for release dates Normally when a Mule Team drops it's one of the pinned announcements above the rest of the threads so keep an eye out for them. They usually announce them a week or so before they're available on the site. The window for purchase varies on demand but yo...

I would have gone with just "Smock in Stock" for the Seuss-like rhyming
Also wanted to say thanks to unified and tactikool for giving people the heads up on where they're back in stock, been waiting for them to return and had mostly given up hope

Re: Confused about the Sharpmaker

At the very least—and it is by no means a small thing—the SharpMaker is a teaching tool. Once you learn its lessons, you can keep using it, perhaps adding more abrasive diamond or CBN rods for the more wear-resistant steels that Spyderco offers us. Or you can graduate to a more involved guided syst...

Re: Military 2

While I'm definitely getting a Military 2 I'm kind of sad that I won't be able to swap blades/handles with the standard Military knives I already own.
Guess Spyderco will just have to rerun all the steels in the new configuration :P

Where could I get a sheath for a flat backed mule?
The boltaron sheath sold in Spyderco's online shop should work, the only difference seems to be they flattened the top of the spine so you still have three points of contact to keep the blade in place. We'll know for sure once it comes out.

Re: CPM REX 76, CPM REX T15, AND M398 and MT2!

I missed that thinking that was the last Spy27 mule. Straight spine production mule :) I was looking at the New Product Reveal page and I swear I saw a regular shaped Mule for the SPY27 Mule and was hopeful that they stuck with the original shape despite reading that it was going to be different. O...

Re: Demko AD 20.5

Decent little knife, very fidgety. I never intended to get more than one but I got one of the early AUS10A ones and then the D2 version along with new RGT scales for each. If I didn't have so many favorite EDCs in rotation I'd probably carry it more.

Re: Show your Mule

https://i.imgur.com/MIgeeOh.jpg Factory second 52100 Mule I finally gave handles to. Since the small holes are a different size from other Mules the Halpern scale hardware doesn't fit. I had tried to expand the holes to fit the hardware but it was a futile attempt with just a hand drill, so I got d...

Re: Finger choil

While I'm almost certain I've taken advantage of them a handful of times I cannot clearly remember any specific instance of utilizing a choil. I generally prefer knives without them but I don't mind them, especially on Spydercos where I feel like a greater majority of the knives have them, and like ...

No, that’s not what I was saying at all. So what are you saying then? I don’t know if there is a language barrier present but you are still entirely misunderstanding the things I’m saying. It’s apparent from your opinion based assertions to those hypothetical questions and your “edit.” Honestly, I ...

There appears to be a misunderstanding. Did you ignore the rest of my post or was there a reason you deleted it? It’s relevant context to what you quoted, if you care. Responding to each comment line by line would be redundant considering what you're asking. - Does every model they use Magnacut on ...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2

I think Spyderco needs to be very calculated when it comes to marketing their Magnacut knives now that they’ve deemed it “salt worthy.” There are a good number of knives that Spyderco has made in H1 and/or LC200N that don't have "Salt" in their names and they've made knives in tool steels...

Just got my Halpern scales and the barrel pins don't fit the holes. I forget where I saw this mentioned before. Is this a hot and miss issue? What have others done about this? Dremel around the inside of the holes till the pin slides in and out? Bummed...... No Dremel needed! A few passes with a ne...

Re: What's your "dream" spyderco? What combo of design/materials would you love to see?

I used to have all kind of "dream" Spydercos but once the Mule Team dropped (and then returned) it's displaced a lot of those by offering a near perfect design (IMO) in a ton of different steels with a wide variety of scale handles thanks to Halpern Titanium. There's still two I'd love to ...

Re: Your Magna Cut Mule performance.

While washing some dishes and my Magnacut Mule I somehow managed to jam it tip first into a ceramic plate. Wasn't too worried about it since I do dumb things like that all the time, but when I tried to touch it up on the Sharpmaker I could feel a tiny "hook" of metal keeping the knife from...
