Re: Spyder Benchstone Flatness
I have the ultra fine, I suck at deburring on coarse stones (it’s a “me” issue, I’m working on it) and find it extremely helpful. No issues at all.

Re: Spyderco Advocate C214TIP SPRINT RUN
The Advocate is an awesome design. I wouldn't touch any bearings knife from Spyderco though until there is a track record of at least a few models without issues. I'd be all over a regular washer version of the Advocate though! It sounds like you're saying rerelease it with no changes, same steel a...

Re: Keep or Return? Manix 2 G10 S30V
If you use it you’re gonna need to sharpen it, and once you sharpen it a couple times the factory edge is a moot point. I vote keep!

Re: PM2 or PM2?
performance should be fairly similar so I'd go with the eye test. S90V would be my pick, that run looks slick. I'd buy two if I were still a PM2 guy. Noted! Also, may I ask what killed the PM2 for you? Why carry a knife that just barely fits my hand with a blade just barely long enough for my uses ...

Re: Question on Manix 2 Lock
It isn’t flimsy at all, I have multiple Manixes (Manices?) and not one has ever broken. I’ve also disassembled them and used them pretty roughly.

Re: Are there any Watu fans out there ?
It’s a great knife for all the reasons described, but gets almost no pocket time because I prefer to edc something I’m not afraid to abuse a little bit (or hand to a coworker who’s not a knife person and is almost guaranteed to mistreat it). There are a lot of knives that I’d be reasonably concerned...

Re: SAGE Series
The comp lock is sooo good on my Sage 5, I would love some more sprint runs in it. Absolutely this. My Sage 5 LW's compression lock is so good it puts my PM2's and PM3's to shame. It deserves a little more variety in colors and steels for sure. That said, I'd love to see a ball bearing lock Sage se...

Re: Para 3 lightweight washer
I’d love to know what washer you used/where you got it, I have a few that I’d love to give the same treatment. It’s one of my favorite EDC knives.

Re: Manix 2 XL St.Nicks Knives Exclusive
If I had not just got the PM2 Crucarta and waiting for the Manix 15v I would probably buy this. The Military could be pretty cool too. How does 4v compare to Cruwear? They have similar properties but I did not know how they compared in real world use. Not speaking from experience but I watched some...

Very tempted by this one. Might not do it, just moved across country and I absolutely have to have the 15v sprint so I really shouldn’t buy another but….

Re: M390 vs S90V
Quick question - what is the best steel used in Spyderco's top knives? Is it S90V? Just now seeing this, as others have said it’s subjective and depends on what attributes you value. I’m a fan of edge stability and wear resistance, and I’m team k390. Many people feel it’s the best all-around EDC st...

Re: M390 vs S90V
Saying it is for those who don't care about shaving sharpness does a great disservice to S110V. My s110v is always shaving sharp off the stones, but it doesn’t stay that way for long at all compared with other steels and especially compared with its own absurdly long working edge life. So IMO if yo...

Re: BladeHQ Exclusive Lum Tanto
AFAIK it was a deliberate decision back then to go with the hap40 laminate instead of the M4 despite using the bladehq / M4 colour scheme. I wish I could get one of these as I already missed out on the hap40 ones... But aside from probably being gone in a minute, the cost of shipping plus import ma...

Re: M390 vs S90V
What is the consensus here of how S90V compares in use with S110V? I have a lot more experience with the latter, almost none with S90V. S90v sharpens easier, holds a fine edge longer and is slightly tougher, but won’t hold a working edge quite as long as s110v. S110v is a highly specialized steel. ...

Re: Impromptu Kitchen Service
Friends don’t let friends have dull kitchen knives…. I’m known to bring my sharpening stones whenever I visit family. Can’t say I’ve ever carried a knife with the specific intent to swoop in to the rescue at a dinner party, but I know the Kapara was designed specifically for food prep. Great EDC too!

Re: Falling out of love with serrations
I personally insist on EDC-ing bread knives exclusively. I know a fixed blade is a lot, but it works.
