How does the smooth G10 feel? Never felt one finished that way, and I like the standard G10 texture a lot.
i was about to ask the same thing.
If you just run your fingers across it, it's smooth, but apply some pressure and there's a little grip. It's not polished smooth.
Honestly though the manix doesn't need grippy scales, there is so much jimping on the liners plus the finger grooves, the knife isn't going anywhere. It doesn't feel any less secure than the textured G-10 manix.
I am very happy with this. It will definitely get some use.

Yep, I can say I had similar experience to Matt back when I had my satin version. I already had scales waiting, so I only used it with those for a few days. I believe it was summer when that one was released?? I remember being sweaty at work and my hands felt like the grip didn't get any worse. But, like Matt said with the jimping all around the Manix, that thing isn't going anywhere.

Interesting. I guess it was more popular off of the forum than on it. Glad they sold.
i'm glad they sold too. i called them on friday and they told me they still had plenty left. it's fine. like i said, i wasn't sure i wanted to deal with cruwear. i may grab a knife in cruwear at some point down the line, but i'm okay missing out on this one, even though i ultimately decided i'd go for it.
Ordered this knife as soon as I got the notification that it was available. I've received mine yesterday and immediately put my copper scales on it (granted, I was really caught off guard by how good the stock scales were on this one!).
Already owned the S30v DLC version of this knife but I wanted an upgrade on the steel. I can now retire my S30v Manix for awhile and start using this one at work. Seems like a good steel, already sharpened it on some Venev stones (240grit to 400grit). I'm not very familiar with Cruwear so I'm not sure what edge it'd prefer but I figured a toothy edge would be best for my use case.
I guess now I'll have to wait for a Maxamet version to come around or maybe M4.
Very nice, Chuck! I’m glad to see you got one. I respect the hard-use that you put some of your knives through and I’m looking forward to hearing how the Cruwear does with some of your cutting tasks.
Just a few thoughts from the sideline on this model. I had ordered one and received it the other day. Upon opening the package I was very impressed with the knife fit, finish, and feel. Let me state first that this is a model that I like a lot. I had several Manix knives in my collection, but they were all FRN models. While handling this knife I realized it felt like a completely different knife than the FRN models. It is so solid and substantial. Do not get me wrong I like FRN very much, but this knife is just in a different class.

Thank you, this made my day
Wish everyone else could see that so the G10/liners don't get pushed to the wayside!

I really like the smooth g10. It has more traction than I thought it would, but still feels smooth. It's odd. I think it will be easier on my pockets than the standard g10 too, which is nice.
The action out of the box isn't quite as smooth as my broken in lw, but that will come in time. It came very sharp and with no fit and finish issues I could see.
I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces and seeing what the cruwear fuss is all about.

I'm all for G10 and liners.
