I have two Mammoth Sunflowers growing and daughter brought over a different cultivar. Rabbits and deer wreaked havoc on them this year . May have to put up some cages next year . Look nice buddy !

This lacey yellow plant
is the equivalent of a plant vampire.
Aptly nicknamed Devil's Hair,
but more commonly known as dodder,
it blankets the host plants
upon which it relies to survive,
penetrating them
with specialized structures called haustoria,
which draw water and nutrients.

These pictures were taken
near the railroad track
that birthed my little town
in far Northwest, Deep East Texas
here in the Dirty South.
