Looks nice. So you drilled the liners? Does it feel lighter?

Cheers Donut, the liners are drilled, I just drilled the scales to match the holes. The weight of the PPT has never bothered me anyways.

Good to see you back!
Hope all is well, and the move is working out.
The ppt looks great!
Went to your flickr site and checked out your recent work. Wow! Looks like you've been busy.
Your knives and sheaths look awesome! Very nice designs.
Btw, i'm still rockin' the digi manix. It's holding up very well.

That's an awesome color, Kona!

I don't know if this counts as a mod, but I cut a choil into my Delica at the base of the edge so I wouldn't scratch the blade as much when I sharpen it.

Of course it counts as a mod, but this is show and tell so show! ;) And thanks for the kudos...

Nice work badger, I had thought of matching the liner holes to the scale in some capacity, suits the PPT well.

Its actually a factory spyderco PM2 scale! Just hidden under some digicam. ;)
w3tnz, those look awesome. Kind of like green glass. I have a black bladed Para 2 and I was thinking about getting some ghost jade G10 scales made for it. Your "natural" scales look very close to the jade G10 in color. Maybe they're actually the same color. Do you know? Did your scales get a lot thinner after sanding away the digicam? I guess I could buy a digicam Para 2, swap the scales with my black bladed Para 2 and then mod the scales as you've done. This would be cheaper than having scales made, plus I'd also have an extra Para 2. I think I'd prefer if it wasn't quite so transparent, though.

I haven't tried this, yet, but maybe a quick soak in some Scarlet Red RIT would help.
I have dyed the brown Camo, from a Militar,y a red. It turned out to look like a red flannel shirt (no pics, but they came out like a pic of that mod a few pages back).
But, that was due to the camo texture. So maybe the red dye on these after the camo is sanded off, would look like a cherry Jolly Rancher. Still translucent, but not as transparent as the jade.
I may try this as I do have a set of Camo I just pulled from a black blade Military a few days ago. I had put some desert tan g-10 on it, instead.

Good idea. I should buy some digicam (or natural) G10, cut it up into several pieces and experiment with different dye combos before doing the 'real' dye job.

Here is a decent place to buy that G-10 in a 11 X 8 sheet real cheap. Just pay attention to the thickness you need.
Scroll down to see what they have in stock. Or Contact them to find out when they will have it. I just got an email from them saying they are buying BIG sheets and will replenish their inventory soon. So let them know what you are looking for.

My first mod (although an easy one)! Dyed the yellow scales on my Salt 1 orange using Rit powdered dye. I wanted to use Tangerine, but they were out of it, so I used a combo of 2 parts Sunshine Orange to 1 part Scarlet. I think it looks fairly close to the orange frn Spyderco uses on some knives. BTW, this stuff penetrates fast. I used about a quart of boiling water with about 3 teaspoons of dye and it was done in 10 seconds. Next time I'll probably use a higher water to dye ratio so there will be more time to check the shade. It would be cool if white scales were available separately from Spyderco. There are hundreds of colors that can be mixed with the base Rit dyes, but they'd only work on a white base.

That's a great color. I noticed my orange Delica is way more visible outdoors than the yellow, but I still love the yellow Salts. I'm jealous of the hourglass clip you have. Where'd you get the knife?

Yellow is much better for visibility underwater. Neon yellow would be even better. Future model maybe?

But I agree, orange is hard to miss anywhere above sea level. I got it on Amazon. I think all of them now have this hourglass clip.

I stone washed me Sage 2 today

I used light rock and a lot of polish and oil in the slurry so I got a smooth lightly washed finish.
That will not show up in my pic :) I tried

I had time so here's a pic of a Sage 2 apart

And this is a after pic of the blade

My favorite Spyderco is the one I'm carrying now :p

Maybe I need new contacts, but that doesn't look very stone washed!

Thanks for sharing. I like the disassembled picture.
