I really like those large, flared tubes.

I do as well. I have been wanting them since I saw another set of custom scales on this thread from years ago.

I chose brown micarta over white liners and green over red liners. Classy as **** if I say so myself. I am not going to reveal the maker, unless he wants to speak up. I know he is already busy and only does it on the side. He has been very professional despite being busy with his other engagements.

I’ve been meaning to get some high quality pics of the latest handles I’ve completed for some time now, but for the sake of showing something here are a couple of quick and dirty photos of the last three I’ve done.

Image
Image

Here are the details:

• Spyderco Woodcraft Mule FB27P CPM-S30V : Honduran Rosewood handle with .030" black G-10 and .125” gold G-10 liners. Pins are (3) 3/16" Ferris wheel copper/nickel silver mosaic and (1) 1/4" nickel silver lanyard.
• Spyderco Mule MT17P K-390 : Copper pinecone handle with copper & green g-10 liners. Pins are (3) 3/16" copper and (1) 1/4" copper lanyard.
• Spyderco Mule MT18P CPM-S110V : Orange Burlap micarta green glow from Shadetree handle with black canvas micarta liner & dovetailed bolster, lime green g-10 pinstripe. Pins are (3) 3/16” black canvas micarta.

The blades have a little tape residue still in the photos and the latest one (S110V) still needs a final buffing, but you get the idea . I’ll try to get some better photos up of each as time permits. Small children do not help with that though…

Thanks to everyone here for all of the inspiration and let me know if there are any questions.

Cheers,
David

David,
Those pinecone handles look terrific. Care to share more about how you made them?

I've only seen a few pinecone handles, but they sure do look intriguing. All 3 look awesome!

Thanks for the compliments folks – I appreciate the kind words. I work slow on these and put a lot of love and sweat into them .

I picked up the copper resin pinecone material at Masecraft about a year ago, although I don’t see any available there now.
