P'Kal Blade

Post by rshives »

[quote="J-Na806"]Just got my P'Kal yesterday... :spyder:

Is that the way the blade looks? It looks like it was grinded compared to the catalog picture.

Do you mean where it is sharpened or the entire side of the blade? The sharpened edge on Spyderco knives normally look grinded.

I was meaning from the kick up to the edge. Looks longer. In other words from the spine to the edge at the tang looks narrower than in the catalog. This looks like one that was on sale in BF. Even from the hole to the handle looks different than in the catalog. Maybe an earlier version? Catalog has two lines of lettering whereas this one only has one.

I see what you mean. This issue was discussed 3 or 4 weeks ago about a knife someone got. I don't remember the model. I don't remember if anyone from Spyderco remarked in the forum. In the other thread the owner said he thought whoever sharpened the knife at Spyderco left it on the grinding wheel (or however it was sharpened) longer than other knives removing a lot more steel. Or maybe it was a return and the first owner sharpened it a lot. I think he had another knife of the same model but different steel and the two knives looked different, like what I think you are describing between the picture and yours. There were different opinions on what he should do like send it to Spyderco for examination to just don't worry about it since it won't hurt performance. Personally, if I were you and it bothered me (which it might) I'd contact Spyderco directly. That way they can tell you if it is a warranty issue or not. I think I'm picturing your issue correctly. Whatever you decide, good luck.

It doesn't bother me, I was just curious. I was at the SFO yesterday and looked at one there and it looks the same. Thinner blade and one line wording. Almost purchased it but went with a Mule instead.

It's a collab between Tanfoglio and Armscor. It's called a MAP-1. There's a MAPP-1 also but with a polymer receiver. It's been factory accurized, and with the tanfoglio delta hammer, 15 pound mainspring, and a lot of dry firing, double action is just at over 5 pounds and single action is just under 2 pounds.I also have a mag that I tweaked for a capacity of 18 rounds of 9mm.

It's 100 degrees here, so I have to go light on what I carry. At least I have lots of pockets!

My humble little Kel Tec P32, loaded with Buffalo Bore hard cast FN +P. For when a sharp Spydie and a kind word isn't enough.

You know it's hit when I consider one of my Kahrs too big to carry.
