Here is a tip. Buy at a local knife shop so you can inspect the knife before you buy.
I wish! I’ve never even seen a Spyderco in the U.K. that I didn’t actually own. 🤣

The simple and obvious solution is to improve the QC on knives shipped to Europe. Considering the greatly increased costs Overseas customers pay, you cannot rely on the “just ship it back for warranty” mindset that seems to be in place. Overseas customers may just be the most loyal Spyderco customers considering all they have to do and pay to get them.

Give all those slightly imperfect ones to US customers. I love factory seconds and I usually mod my knives in some way. Only have a few non modded Spyderco knives.

What price increase would be reasonable for those overseas customers?

I think I already hear a lot of complaints about the price of Spyderco’s in Europe.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Hi Jim,

I'm sorry, but that solution is neither simple or obvious. The knives are shipped from dealers all over the world, not from Spyderco. Most dealers will undercut our price as we charge full retail, except in the store, so most order from elsewhere.

Also, few dealers would have the knowledge to be able to inspect the knife and notice what Marius was talking about. As mentioned, our ELU's are more skilled at QC of our product than 95% of dealers.

We're shipping tens of thousands of knives every month. We don't know what goes to Europe or anywhere else.

O/T I know, but: I thought the SFO sold at full retail. What does Sal mean "we charge full retail, except in the store"? Are prices lower in the SFO?

If anything, I think the biggest take away we should all get from this thread is that we should have a screw construction SS Police with K390.

SFO charges 25% off MSRP, compared to the usual 30% off MSRP - MAP policy.

Hi Bolser,

As mentioned, we give a discount if you come into the store.

Supporting our dealers, (not competing with them), supporting our ELU's, (End Line Users), (Giving them as much as possible for their hard earned money), supporting our vendors and keeping them healthy, supporting out staff, and running a company is a constant balancing act as any of you in business are aware.

I was willing to purchase one from Golden (online) hoping that I might get some help over the phone with my “issue” but, no luck. The C07S is out of stock. Maybe I’ll have more luck with the next batch and I’ll be able to purchase one to my liking. Fingers crossed…

I was under the mistaken impression that there were one or more European distributors.

It appears that all solutions are intractable and our European friends must suffer like Sisyphus. :-||
