Hahaha I figured. I’ve stared at an open pm2 in my hand countless times.

Pennypincher one thing to consider is that the new pm2’s have been updated to s45vn, whereas the Manix2 still has s30v as its base. So if a new flavour of steel attracts you the pm2 is your knife.

Blades Canada has updated s45vn Paramilitary2s and Para3s in stock. I want to get one to customize with some AWT scales, but it’ll have to wait.

I am frugal not cheap, when I buy say Tires, I shop for best price on exact item.

Recent bought tires after some wheeling, and dealing. Found shop that was about $400.00 difference to high price on same set.

Was in Office Depot last week buying some stuff with point for ink cartridge. Lady in
Line in front of me was buying Lazer Toner Cartridge. I said you know they match prices.

After find good price she stayed almost 27 bucks. She was happy camper, and told her to share info with friend.

Back to Knife both have positive, but I have been told replace Manix Ball Bearing, Spring mechanism for best working to open, close, lock.

Truth or over kill.?
If you get the Manix 2 LW it may end up being moot. There are still a lot of pinned Manix 2 LW's out there and you may not be able to modify the knife unless you have some good tools and skills.
I only paid $101 for my Manix 2 LW and $170 for my PM2 with G10 scales and that is quite a difference in price.
The PM2 is in my pocket right now. That being said, the Manix was in my pocket all last week. I like them both. Good Luck

Sorry. Those were two different thoughts. I'd like to see a CBBL Chaparral, but not because I want it for winter outdoor use--just because I want it.
i see. i've always thought of the sage as a mini manix and the chaparral as a micro manix. i like them all, but only own a manix because i'm allowed to carry a 3.5" blade. if i was restricted to smaller, i'd be happy with either of those two as smaller options. it would be cool to see them with a cbbl also, but the spring tension would have to be considerably lighter on a smaller knife or it would feel a lot less refined in my opinion.
"Im allowed to carry a 3.5" blade." Is this a work place issue or a local government issue?
Where do you live?
both. i've lived and worked in places where i was restricted to smaller blades. i even got in trouble one time for carrying a multi-tool and was written up for having a large knife because the blade was over 2.5". i wasn't carrying it in defiance... the rules had recently changed and i didn't know. i will say though, that type of nonsense is a consideration for me when seeking employment in the future. it's not about the knife, although that irritates me. it's more about the organization not trusting me and putting unreasonable limits on my freedom. i don't want to work in that kind of environment.
Yeah, I know what you mean. At work, we can't have any implements of destruction, not even an X-act-o knife. We are issued plastic razor blades that are absolutely worthless.

Makes it look at a very quick glance almost like a Millie (2) with its more negative blade angle (a feature I'd actually like to see on the PM2 too) ;)

Well that is not possible as I have no πŸ’°TREE, just Cactus.

I am Southpaw, but both work for Lefty Carry.
I found a lefty PM2:

I think they are also in stock at kc (and perhaps in other stores, just happened to come across that one there,)

I'm trying out the AWT scales on the Manix 2 and they've really made a difference, it no longer feels like a pocket hog. I've definitely carried/used a Manix 2 more than I do a PM2... :winking-tongue

These scales make the Manix 2 thinner & lighter and give it an entirely new/different feel.

For the longest time I was a PM2 fan and ignored the Manix. Then I actually got a Manix and fell in love (but still liked the PM2). And then I got a Military and fell doubly in love! Now the PM2 feels to me like a shrunken, deformed Military!

So I am a Military and Manix man now.

I....., but I have been told replace Manix Ball Bearing, Spring mechanism for best working to open, close, lock.

Truth or over kill.?

I am not entirely sure what exactly they / that person told you:; Replace the whole mechansim ? The ball cage lock? Just the spring?

Anyway: I donΒ΄t see any need whatsoever concerning either one.
The "mechanism" works great as it is, and in my extensive use (and not only "light") proved to be very strong, reliable and durable.

Some people find the lock a bit hard to operate though and replace just the spring with a "lighter" one, as I understand it.
Most though (including me) seem to be perfectly happy with the spring tension as it is, as far as I can tell from the comments here.-

Then some replace the ball cage lock with a Flytanium one. No NEED at all for this too imo, as said, the factory lock is really hard to kill already in my experience.
Plus 1 here as well. The Manix 2 lock is rock solid and very strong. The design enables the ball bearing to be pushed further in to the lock no matter how worn the parts are to ensure a secure lock up. I have never seen any issue with the CBBL on line when I was was researching the Manix 2 before I purchased my Translucent Blue LW.

I actually like the Manix ergos a lot (real experience though just with the LW) so these scales most likely could not further improve anything for me (and as said: I think the Manix is also a very good carry anyway, (clearly better than a PM2 imo) short and ideally "rounded", and a slim handle end).

Still: Your scales are a very cool and different approach to the Manix platform! I'd definitely like to know how they feel in hand!

Now slap some AWT scales on a pm2 and I bet it will feel lighter/thinner/better carrying than the Manix.

I don't think so at all. Below a pic from the AWT page: The Pm2 is still longer and really not that much nsrrower (if at all) than the Manix and firsr and foremost still has that "pocket blocking" wide handle end and blocky handle, and not the slim handle end and subtle curve of the Manix that almost "guides" the hand by the knife in pocket.

Just my 2 c.
