I have a Gunting, and really like it, but the Yojimbo will become my EDC.

Remember when you were young, fresh out of college, and working in your first real career job? And then, how you decided that you were going to purchase your fist ‘new’ car? You saw it everywhere, on the freeway, in parking lots. It has been suggested that if you want to accomplish a goal, no matter how arbitrary it may seem, that it is best to use positive reaffirmations, and or creative visualization… doing this helps your mind’s subconscious focus on the goal. So, with that in mind, open up the image of the Yojimbo from the first page, now get into a comfortable chair, position your feet evenly, and lay your arms lightly on the armrests. Now close your eyes and take five slow deep breaths, breath in… exhales, in… out, in… out, in… out, in… out. Now, count down slowly from 25 to 1, and with each count, breath lightly as you feel your toes relaxing, then your calves, and then your thighs, et cetera. Focusing on each part, one at a time, and with each breath, think about relaxing it. Now you should be relaxed. Slowly open your eyes and fix your gaze upon the Yojimbo picture, and repeat this affirmation, “I own a Michael Janich designed Spyderco Yojimbo, with its blue textured G-10 scales filling my hand as an integral element, emphasizing its solid construction that belies the knifes nearly perfect balance and ergonomics, and I feel warm and wonderful as I gaze upon its beauty, deeply admiring the flawless Spyderco execution of functional design.” Say this affirmation at least three times per day, more is always better.

It's looking like late DEC / early JAN. It's in pilot now. We made a few more minor changes, Mike approved.

Sal,

Just curious, if you don't mind saying: what were those changes?

I guess it's just the academic side of me trying to understand the limitations of the previous version and what you addressed.

Thanks,

Dear Satori:

The last I heard from Sal (a couple of weeks ago), they were working on re-engineering the thickness of the liner/handle above the stop pin to further increase the lock strength. Several pilots have been made and their locks tested to failure. Although they performed very well, Sal thinks we can make them even stronger.

His last estimate was that they would start production in earnest in early February. He also informed me that they will be available with black handles as well as the original blue.

That's all I know...

Happy Holidays!

Satori,
I do all my pre-orders with Patsy at www.beckscutlery.com . Check with your local knife store, maybe they will preorder one for you.
