I got a Millie 2, too. I've wanted to try one since it was introduced, but couldn't bring myself to pay full price. Today, for $144, I grabbed an S110V. I find it interesting that you and I both rank the OG Millie among our favorites, yet I doubt my hands are 3/4 the size of yours. I'm excited to try the comp lock on a platform I'm already familiar with. My PM2s and Caribbeans are great knives, but I've never quite bonded with the comp lock.
I also picked up an S110V UKPK today at a decent price. A pair of Vapor Puffin scales awaits it.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Same. I'm so dead set on lockbacks that I have a hard time imagining a comp lock becoming my go to.
But I 100% have to try one at some point, and they won't be getting any cheaper.
Back when Sal asked for input on the Para 2 in 2008, I suggested a wider, deeper choil - viewtopic.php?p=445330&hilit=military+choil#p445330
2009 I suggested the Military 2 feature a different lock, 4 way clip and deeper, wider choil:

So even though I feel like I've moved on from detent based locks for the most part, I knew I had to give this knife a try. It's exactly what I had been asking for since 15 years ago.
I think the lack of finger grooves help the Military (and paras) fit a wide range of hand sizes.I find it interesting that you and I both rank the OG Millie among our favorites, yet I doubt my hands are 3/4 the size of yours. The fact I rank it so high despite the tip down clip, liner lock, shallow choil, fairly short edge for the handle size vs a Chief, etc. speaks to how good of an overall design it is.
Pretty excited to try the new version. I had a tip up BG42 Military in the past like I mention in that screenshot, and IMO it carried so much better that way. I've always thought changing the lock so the big liner lock cut out could be done away with would really improve the ergonomics too.
May you find peace in this life and the next.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I really like the M2's compression lock system. I have been a backlock guy for years too. I have had so many of the linerlocks literally close on me as I was using them in the past, that now I won't even look at anything else but a backlock.
When I saw online my first compression lock, I told myself I just might need to check that out lol.
I now have probably no less that 10 of them now in the M2's in different steel, and I have given 6 or more others away to friends and family.
The new M2 is a great feeling knife. I now have a new Sage5 in the mail coming, it's in the Rex121 steel.

@vivi following our discussion on steels I put down a pre-order for two Spyderco Native Chiefs in CruWear. Going by Larrin's charts the steel should be excellent.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Hot off the FedEx truck. This was my one Black Friday purchase for knives (along with a pocket sheath from Oak City Leather for it that won't be here probably until after the holidays). Really been liking my Endela K390 and when I saw they had a fixed blade with K390 that was still nice and thin I had to get one.

Chaparral SE on the way from Blade HQ.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Wharnie Endella K390 ordered today. Had been contemplating for some time but $100 price (before shipping and tax) straight from spyderco sealed the deal. Looking forward to attacking some cardboard with this one

Police 4 LW SE in K390 and a Chaparral FRN SE.
If they ever get here.
USPS is probably too busy delivering Amazon and TEMU packages.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I really enjoy mine and I hope you do, as well. The first thing I did with the three of mine was to chamfer the inside edges of the FRN scales with the end of a Sharpmaker rod. A needle file will also work if you take your time.Aladinsane wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:22 amLeafjumper PE is languishing in the USPS. Hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow!![]()
The only one I have missing from the set is the SE K390 version. I might remedy that before the year is out and if they are still available.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I think I will like it. I’m a bit anxious because it’s the biggest pocket knife I’ve had since I sold my Manix 2 a few years ago. I really like the blade and I think the handle will be fine! Time will tell!!OV1kenobi wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:38 amI really enjoy mine and I hope you do, as well.
