That might make edge retention just slightly poor, but I bet the pivot action would be super duper smooth.

Viscous is an actual word. Spell check doesn't make sure you're using the correct word, just that the word you use is actually a word.

Woo hoo, late July is now! And a viscous pivot on s90v sounds like an amazing innovation not previously mentioned as a highlight on this model.

Dunno, but it probably takes advantage of fluid dynamics.

Ok.... So, I wander if vicious pivots will be added to other models?

Yeah, that's what I meant by "so much for spell checkers." They're my worst enema ;)

Not to derail the spell check humor, but would a black clip from any other models fit in this? For instance would the black pm2 clip fit, or maybe even the very nicely finished clip from the Bradley? The stock shiny model is a little too much bling for me, and next weeks mule team release is a great time to add a clip to an order from SFO.

Holding them side by side, the Yo2 clip appears identical to the clips on PM2, Manix2, and Manix2-XL to me. I think even a black Stretch clip is the same except for the hole in the clip for the pivot screw.

Edit: I just noticed that the screws take a bigger torx size on the Manixes but not on the PM2 or stretch... I could compare the screw holes if anybody needs to know about Manix clips.

I used to have a black pm2 clip in my yo2. Works fine with the black screws.

Ignore the Rescue, old photo.

Are you sure you want wandering vicious, viscous pivots on blades this sharp? Just askin'.

Most other hourglass clips will indeed fit, however FYI the Vallotton clip has closer hole spacing than others, meaning it will not fit, which is a **** shame because as far as black clips go it's probably the best looking one I've seen yet. I'm not 100% sure but I believe the Gayle Bradley also uses this clip.

Gayle Bradley has a nice finished clip, it's almost like anodized titanium. The Stag Arms Manix had a really nice shiny black clip. The Zulu has a pretty descent semi shiny black clip with a gray bug on it.

I've heard of people cerakoting clips.

I've thought to try to drill the holes out a bit on those clips to fit the standard pattern, but haven't tried that yet. I agree that those sort of charcoal-colored clips are perhaps the nicest of Spyderco's black clip offerings.

I did try but I would have drilled all the way out of the side of the clip if I had kept going. There just isn't enough metal around the holes.

I don't have the Vallotton, but I believe the narrower clip is the same one found on the Vesuvius / Centofante 3 / Centofante 4.

Hmmm I'll check when I'm home but I think the Centofantes use a totally different clip altogether.
